Good Day Marauder Men,

I got a check engine on and had a friend scan it. Results were an engine mis fire cold and hot, #8 cylinder. He tells me that the coil connecter is the culprit. I did a search on here for replacement procedures and it looks pretty straight forward. I have 59k on an '03-A, JLT and stainless exhaust/delete tips. I wanted to replace the plugs but due to my not working now, im vying to just replace the connecter $10 for a stock unit. Any feedback?

Thanks
Donnie

I can't imagine how a stock COP connector could cause a misfire...it's a single piece of metal wound into a spring. I suppose it *could* be loose at the plug end, but that would be unusual. More than likely you have a bad COP or a bad plug. Switch COPs (and their respective connectors) between the bad cylinder and a good one and see if the code follows it...

The thing is, I have had a rough idle since I bought the car approx 2 months ago. Overall it runs good although Im not getting great mileage and I baby this thing. So, can COP's misfire intermittantly? Plugs too?

Is water getting under the coil covers? If water is getting in it could cause a short until it evaporates. This could result in an internmittent miss. You could check the rubber seal on the coil cover, see if it looks good and make sure everything is seating ok.

I agree with RF, swap it with a known good and see if the problem follows the COP.

+3 on swapping a know good for bad. BTW, Coils are about $50.00 each IIRC.

Thanks for the advice, man thats the easiest thing ive ever done. I swapped #8 with the nearest one to it. Ive been reading about the Granatelli wires and from what the posts have indicated, they are a great upgrade. Any idea where I might get a set? How much?....So far the engine light hasnt come on again.
