View Full Version : PV Raceway / Ray's Drive In Oct 7??

I've been watching Vortex's thread on the alternate cruise location, and I'm wondering if there's any interest in doing another afternoon at the drag track followed by going to cruise night at Ray's? October 7 looks like a good day. The weather should be cooler then, the track is not booked with any major events, and I could probably get the hospitality room again.

I still have folks commenting on when we had all those Marauders up there before. In fact, one of the guys has a 71 X100 that he rarely brings out. I'll have to get him to park with us if we do it again.

Any interest?

Mr.Jones;

That sounds like a great idea. I'm sorry I couldn't make it last time, the $#%@$^ weather man forecasted rain so I committed to babysitting the grandkids. It didn't rain so I was disappointed. That was three Marauders that didn't come. Drats.

I'm penciling in Oct 7 on my calendar. BTW where is Ray's? I've passed thru Lufkin twice since last year but cannot find it. Gas station attendents can tell me were Karachi or Teheran is but cannot pinpoint the local Wal mart.

Thanks,

Pat

Ray's is on the main n/s drag through town - Timberland Drive/Business 59. It's in the Sam's Club parking lot - the old one, not the new one they're building out by WalMart. You did miss out last time, we had great weather, and the six Marauders there drew a crowd.

It's still several weeks away, but I'm gonna keep planning on it if there's some interest.

Mike,

You know all I need is a reason to head your way and I'm there. However, this will be during fall break and I'll be in Florida with the family at the in-laws:( .

In case I'm wrong on my dates, I willl try and make it. Otherwise, let me know if you want anything from Daniel at Colex. Turns out, he is across the runway from where my father-in-law offices @ the Ft Lauderdale airport.

Plan to meet Daniel and buy some of his new stuff.

Had a great time at Pine Valley last time.

How much interest do we have out there? I'm wondering if a lot of folks are going to be gearing up for MVIV and not be able to make it.

mrjones;

I'm coming and Vortex from Dallas indicated in a previous post he would come. I talked to SID210SA from San Antonio Yesterday and he said he was coming and would stay overnight. That's three.

My friend, Jim Sprading's (Happy Gasser) car is in the shop for modifications and I'm not sure if it will be ready in time. I'll keep you posted on that.

Pat, Just a quick note, I was hoping to make it and was supposed to be on terminal leave from my job after Labor Day. Well, seems they cant do without me and cancelled my leave for the whole month of September and Ive been back at work. In fact Im headed out to NYC tommorrow morning and will be gone til the end of the month. Thats means my trip to San Antonio will be pushed back to early October. Once I get back from NYC Ill be better able to know whats going on.

Good deal! I see Libby got the message to you. I had a good visit with her at the game Friday night.

Don't really need anything, just show up. Are you gonna run that Lincoln this time?

Yes. Need directions? check out this web site WWW.pinevalleyracing.com (http://www.pinevalleyracing.com)

I'll be coming down 59 from the North, let me know if you are going and we can link up. Vortex from Rowlett is planning to come but he is out of town till the end of Sept. Check with him when he gets back, maybe you can come together. Don't know if anyone else is coming. Younga1 and SID210SA had other committments.

Well, my Xcal2 is hosed up it seems. Luckily I was able to return the stock tune to the LS so at least all is not lost. Unless I can get the tuner back operative, I will probably not be attending the meet.

I did an update to the latest firmware and it went smoothly. Now it will not allow me to upload any tune using any of the SCT software. I keep getting the "failed to download file" error. Any ideas?

I managed to get my Xcal2 issues resolved so .... I guess you guys will get to blow my doors off afterall. :)

Well, Smokey, since I had the slowest one out there last time, I'm sure you'll feel better by racing me!

Do we have a semi-firm count on who may be coming next weekend?

Don't you mean weekend next, 7 Oct, not 30 Sept? Right?

I'll be there, 7 Oct, waiting on Vortex to get back in town, then we'll know if he can come. He previously indicated that he would but his job is taking him out of town more.

Dudes! Last spring when we did this, the schedule was great. We got out to the track around 11am when the gates opened, got set up in the hospitality room, got teched, and had 5 MM's lined up ready to go at noon when they started running. After spending a few hours at the track and everyone running I guess as much as they wanted, we went into town for cruise night, which starts around 6pm.

I went out to the track tonight to check on the schedule, and next Saturday they won't open the gates until 3pm, and don't start the test and tune till later. With that kind of schedule, I don't believe that we would be able to do both the track and the cruise night.

What are your thoughts? Anybody want to do only one or the other, or maybe postpone till next season? As far as most people are driving in for this, I'm thinking having two events in one day makes it worthwhile for the long drive. It may not be worth it to drive all the way for just the cruise night. It's a nice cruise in, but it sure ain't no Chuck's.

Smokey

Wow, running in the hottest part of the day is not good.
That is too bad. I had my tune down pretty good to try and whoop on some Marauders. :)
If it were me, I'd opt for the track, but that's getting kinda late for people traveling from out of town.

Smokey

The current forecast shows no chance of rain through this weekend, so it will be dry. The highs to be around 90 all week.

Mike, have you heard from anyone if this is still on?

mrjones
10-02-2006, 01:11 PM
I haven't had anyone reply (except Smokie) that they were coming since my post 2 days ago, and with the track schedule, I'm saying that we should just postpone it until probably next spring, when they'll have the longer hours early in the season.

So, let's scratch it for this weekend.

Smokey

I think that is a wise decision Mike. Anyway, it will give me more time to play with this tuner for next spring. :D

Mrjones;

Just got back into town this evening and find that I have to teach Sunday School at the church early Sunday, 8th. So canceling the PV drags/cruise on the 7th works for me.

Another time perhaps.
