Hi all, Just picked up an 04 marauder with 12k miles. It is bone stock. I have owned four Mustang GT's and a Lightning so I'm pretty knowledgeable about cars, but I've been out of the performance game for about three years. What should be my first bolt ons to make my marauder move. Also, i'm not gonna lie, this car sure doesn't feel like 302 horses. My 9c1 Caprice was only 265 and it felt quicker than the marauder. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

If I had to do it all over again;
I'd get a cold air intake, 4.10s and a good tune.
Best 'bang for the buck' IMHO.
That will keep you happy...FOR A WHILE.:D
Welcome aboard, you'll love the Marauder!

Also, i'm not gonna lie, this car sure doesn't feel like 302 horses.:welcome: 302 is at the flywheel, it's around 240 at the rear wheel. Where are you from?
A tune, with a 180* stat and cooler plugs, and 4:10s would be a great start!

The first thing to do...grab something to drink, go to a quiet area...
And READ. Search topics such as 'best mods'...or just go wayyy back to the threads from the first year of this sites infancy. You will actually gain more from that than what you might in this particular thread.
There is so much info here it can overwhelming.
:welcome:
Where are you located?

First things first, welcome aboard! Next - BUY a raffle ticket for the Supercharger and all the other goodies will fall into place. After the warranty expires on mine, it gets the Trilogy, 4:10's, 180 stat, tranny cooler and multiple cooling fans. Along with a handy-dandy tire dispenser mounted in my garage. These Marauders eat rear rubber like Skittles. Yee-Haw!

Welcome aboard, you are correct the pushrod engine in your Caprice made it's torque low in rpm range, the Marauder is a high-reving engine, it gets very happy at about 3500 rpms. You already have recieved excellent suggestions on where to start.:)

Welcome on board !
Start with a K/N aircharger and a SCT II tune (from Lidio). Good base for less than 700 Dollars and 1 hour 1/2 of pleasant job. Your Mercury will start feeling like a Marauder.
Then, depending upon your bank account, you follow the advice of the die hard members and you build a MARAUDER !

It's worth repeating, so I'll do that:
1) Get a tune from one of the excellent vendors here. This will not only give you more power, but will fix the funky shift schedule, too.
2) 4.10s make a large difference in this heavy car and don't impact the gas mileage as much as you might think.
Then there are all the other doodads you can install: underdrive pulleys; PHP upper intake spacer; a choice of 3 CAIs (PHP, JLT, K&N); and a choice of 3 exhaust setups (Reinhart, Kooks, Stainless Works).
Finally, there are 3 supercharger vendors here...1 Roots (Trilogy) and 2 hairdryer (Reinhart and F.I.T), all of whom make excellent bolt-on kits.
Oh, yeah...where are my manners...Welcome!

Thanks for the suggestions. I am in Oceanside, CA for those who asked. I will be doing typical bolt ons (pulleys, tune, CAI) for now. I'm deploying in a few months and will probably do a supercharger once I get back. I have had two supercharged mustangs and heavily modded 03 Lightning. I sure do miss that supercharged power....my wallet doesn't though. Thanks again for the feedback.
