Hey folks,
Just back from a car show where I dyno'd 35 cars and bikes on Sunday. Two of these were: New 300C Hemi R/T and 2006 Shelby. The results?
Dodge: 350 rwhp stock
Ford: 472 rwhp stock.

Won't be lining my MM up against either of these anytime soon. Of course, that may change in the spring when the 5.0 goes in!

Do you mean SRT for the 300c? Because Chrysler does not have an R/T model, Dodge does. With Chrysler the C is the package with the hemi. What type of Dyno was this? That seems astonishing for the 300c, arent they rated at 340 to the crank?

472 RWHP stock....that is 550+ HP at the crank!
Something smells fishy.

Nothing fishy. Anyone want to see the graphs? Ran them myself on the DynoJet 248. It reads everything we run to the hp from what we see published in Magazines. Ran the MM at 242.5 stock (now 310, I'm proud to say). Yup. SRT-8. My bad. Too many cars in one day!

This is indeed impressive.

Okay, I may be thinking of the wrong car...Is this the Shelby GT40? Or the Mustang Shelby GT500?

Already I hate all this "Shelby" crap...

The name "Shelby" appears nowhere on the Ford GT.

I heard that with a lil tweaking the shelby can go over 500 rwhp not sure how true it is but thats what i heared.

I'm not questioning your dyno results, just the 'stock' Shelby GT500.

If this is indicative of most stock GT500s, then that is simply awesome!

How much tweaking would you need, really, to go from 479.2 (Just checked my numbers) to 500? Well, when you see the graphs, you'll see that all it would take is a bit more rev limit. She shuts off before it levels off at 6400 rpm. I'm guessing that another 200 rpm would see us hit the peak, and that peak would be darn near 500 rwhp.
Please stay tuned for the graphs. I have to switch computers.
And yes, to all, this is the 500, not the GT.

Lidio had a GT500 in his shop and it only dyno'd at 409 RWHP stock. Once his tuning was done it dyno'd at 490 RWHP. The dyno for the Chrysler had to be on a SRT-8 model. These are 425hp at the crank.

The Ford GT is a re-do of the GT-40 from the '60. Nothing to do with Shelby.

My point exactly. But, back in 2004, I saw a "Shelby GT" at the Chicago Auto Show. I knew it was a prototype, "1 of 6" at that time, but it's not a Mustang based "Shelby" either. After that, the Hertz Shelby...

This "Shelby" crap has stretched too far, and I really don't care anymore.

Call them what ever you like, let them have all the RW power in the world. The bottom line is that this RWHP costs money, how much do you want to spend?

This is a Marauder board, what do we really care?

Hey Bigslim and Bigdog - keep up, eh? We've already got the RTSRT/GT-40/Shelby mess figured out! :D
Now, for the graphs. These are: SRT (see, I can be taught), Shelby, and Shelby vs my paultry MM.

Hey Sarg. What gets me about the New 2007 5.4L Supercharged Mustang (heretofore referred to as "Shelby") is how friggin inexpensive it is! It lists for about 4k more than the MM did when it came out. I think we get a nicer ride for the money, but bang for the buck sure is realized in the Shelby package. I was surprised that it still has the SVT signed motor badge. I thought they had been disbanded already. Neat to see that SVT survived long enough for the Shelby project at least.

Some get confused, some don't. I had a guy argue with me the other day that all the Hertz cars had the same engine as the Shelby Mustang GT500. His reasoning was it says "Shelby" on it, so it must be the same engine. :shake:

Quick question regarding the MM, which I could jump over to another forum if it gets too involved. Anyone else noticed that the MM makes more power in 2nd than 3rd? And I don't just mean a little, I mean a LOT! With litterally thousands of autos run on the dyno, I honestly don't think I've seen a modern auto set up with more oomph in second. Anyone encountered this before?

We usually do the dyno run in 3rd because the tranny gear ratio is 1 to 1 and with stock gears it goes to 145 mph (6200 rpms) locked converter, no downshifting. That way comparison numbers across the country are significant.

What kind of numbers are you seeing in second gear??? Can you post a graph??? Thanks for posting the other graphs.

Don't have the latest graphs on this computer. When I get home tonight I'll post again. I've really got to get my own car back on the dyno to do some more tuning and testing. That is the worst of being the dyno guy. you never have time to run your own car, and when you do have the time, you just lack the motivation. :(
PS Just got the DR Tune and PHP Kit (which I strongly recommend for sound alone) and they work really well. DR still has a couple of PHPs left in stock that he'd like to move, so if anyone is interested, he'd love to hear from you. OK. Now the thread is really drifting.
