I sent my block to the engine builder and found out that it is cracked....
My first thought was just shoot me... but now I need a new block....

anyone have a cobra Teksid or a 5.0l cammer block or an 04 Marauder block lying around...?

Im very interested in a purchase of one....

I have inquires on almost every forum I can find..... Please help me out if you can.... My motor is vortec supercharged (10#) and makes around 425RWHP & 430RWTQ before...

Now I wanna go and up the annie.... im going up to a 12# pulley and more...
I plan to bore .20 over etc.... more power... If I gotta have it all apart and put it back together might as well do it the right way once....

Any help appreciated....

Thanks:help:

Where do you live and how far do you want to ship a block?

I might have a line on a Teksid block...

More torque than horsepower?
Id like to see THAT graph. Not with a Vortech dude. :nono:

Ya Zack

Sr. has the dyno graph somewhere upstairs in his office.
This is the dyno from when Jerry W. did the tune in Erie Pa.

The numers as I remember it were 427RWTQ Peak and 425RWHP Peak.
Horsepower was still climbing at 6000rpm or so.... would have gone higher then torque...

We are going to the engine builders as soon as Sr. gets off the phone.
I bringing the ford tech whom removed the motor with us....
I just picked him up from work....
He is here at computer with me now...

Well Zack good advise to go see it for ourselves. We went straight over to the engine shop with the fors tech whom removed our engine. Lucky it was discovered that it is not a cracked block. The line was a mark in the cylinder from when the edge of the piston gave away. (reason why motor is down)

A small chip of the edge of the piston cracked off and shot out of the exhaust valves shortly after noise started. Once that occur the noise went away but you could tell something wasn't right. The compression ring was intact and all.

....But to get back on track the ford tech and the engine builder discussed things over for a few and the agreement was made the mark on cyclinder wall is a scratch in the sleeve. (....and not the crack which was breaking my heart)

Now we plan on going .20 over with this motor. so our hopeful thoughts are this scratch will be gone once motor is .20 over. Hopefully it is not deeper than that....
Any suggesttions if it is deeper than that....?
I heard changing sleeves is not a easy task with these motors....

Im sure a .020 will clean it up.
Make sure you get a good oil pump from MMR or VT.

If it has to be sleeved, two suggestions...
1-Just get another block instead, or
2-Put big-bore sleeves in it

I guess the tenative plan now is to go with .020 cp pistons, Oliver billet rods, new mmr oil pump, (?any suggestions on rings?) file fit rings?, new bearings etc, and 12# pulley for supercharger

yea, 18lbs of boost.

Ya I'd love to Zack....

unfortunately, we have the SQ trim and from what I understand it won't support that boost on our setup unless we upgrade to the T-trim....

I've been all for that but Sr. want's to retain some MPG quality....

I'll let you try and convince him next time you guys talk....

If we upgrade to the t-trim will the 42# injectors you put in run short on furl....?

S-Trim will go 20lbs easy.
Might need to upgrade to 60's after 550rwhp.
Mileage will not go down unless you are at WOT.

hmm, I will definitely have to discuss this with Sr.

Unfortunately, we recently had an issue with the 427 SOHC Cammer motor in our 65 AC Cobra and the heads will need to be reworked due to a NOS rocker arm that decided to snap in two on us. This caused the valve to do some damage to the head. Lucky the heads we got are extremely rare aluminum heads and hey can be repaired... but it will be costly...

...so we have to narrow how much we are going to do with the marauder motor since the expenses just took a giant leap in the wrong direction.

What is the highest boost we can run with our SQ-trim without changing the injector size?

Is there an advantage to changing to a T-trim if we are going to run between 12# and 18# PSI?

I almost positive you upgraded our fuel lines when you changed the injectors and the fuel pump. Am I correct to think that Zack?

Thanks,
Jr.

16lbs w/ 42's, stock rails and lines you will be fine.
You will need twin pumps with a BAP

Im sure a .020 will clean it up.
Make sure you get a good oil pump from MMR or VT.

Stay far away from VT oil pump gears. I and many other were screw by them. They supplied gears which were not hardened, only had a black metal oxide coating on them. After 15,000 miles my gears were shot. Small metal particles were all around instide the pump, which used to be part of the gears.

thank you for the info....

I will certainly go with the MMR Billet oil pump now.....

Zack

The MMR pump is a Ford pump with hogged out innards and Cryo Treated Gears.

Loco1234

so... you would suggest the MMR oil pump or a different pump?

Zack

The MMR pump is awesome

any other suggestions or recommended parts to go with since we're doing this engine rebuild....?

We rather do it right once... then plan to take it apart later and change stuff.

FYI Zack = Gary Sr.(PaCammer) he has works out a deal to get our marauder oil pan redone with the kickouts, baffles, and 1/2" npt oil drain reinforced.
If you call him he can work it out to get yours done too if you wish....

Thank you.... any piece of information is appreciated....... Im just looking to do the research on anything that might not be part of a standard build but a good idea.......

Maybe the oil pump just mentioned above is worth looking into..... never would have known about if he didn't mention it.....

Zack you just told me about the VT oi pump vs. MMR oil pump. Info i didn't know.

I thought the forum is to benfit everyone and allow them to combine and share their thoughts..... Thats all Im looking to do... Ya I know basically what I wanna do but before I commit to something I try and get it from every angle and opinion. Leave no stone unturned... esspecially when spending this much money... (new engine rebuild)

MitchB had the first 600+rwhp Marauder in the world, so I would trust what he says.
