Yup thats right. Front tires are toast. The inside of them are worn horribly. I can't believe I never caught this sooner. Do ya think this is why?...

Sunday was a race meet at a track in the middle of the desert. We usually end up speeding down there but this time was insane. We had a group of about 20 mustangs. Myself and my dad pulled ahead and 4 others wanted to do a little freeway running. We got to the top of a VERY long hilll and not a car in sight. I drop into 3rd and punch it (from 85mph). Pulled away from 2 lightly modded 99-04 GT's. 130 hit and 3rd was done. Let off the gas so OD would shift nicely and kept charging. I hit 145 before I shut'r down because my nerve was wearing out. Usually it takes next to no time to get there in my stang but this took a while. :D I did get passed by my dads S-trimed 05 Roush and a S-trimed 2v stang but the N/A cars were hangin back! Both of them ended up spining up to around 150-155. But they were long gone by the time I hit 145 :banana2:

So results of a DR tune and 3.73's

Before 16.6 @ 88mph NHRA prepped track.
After 15.5 @ unknown (no mph at the 2nd track) Old runway turned 1/4 mile. Its got an ET timing system but no MPH. I ran mostly 15.7's the rest of the day. I got that 15.5 after letting the car rest for a bit. While I was teaching my dad to stay off the damn rev limiter.

However from the hole the stangs I beat on the freeway were killin me. The only 2 things I beat were a powerstroke and a 91 SHO.

I picked up my heads from the machine shop today so I can get the stang back on the road and stop driving this car like a racecar. But hey its put up with it pretty good. Other than I think the brake fluid has been boiled, the rotors are feelin a little warped, the front inner tires are messed up, and the rears are wearin down. I read about carfixers spec's, I searched, printed them out and I'm taking them with me to the shop tomorrow. There's just enough inside tread that if this can stop the wear I'll be ok till the winter swap. (THANKS CARFIXER!!) Next weekend the MM is getting serious TLC....

Btw. Do 16/17" crown vic wheels work on our cars? I need to start finding deals for snow tires.

Look into the carfixer alignment specs to fix your front tire wear.

What do the tires say? Is there any inside "cupping"?

If so, they are shot, you will not recover, just extend the tire life. If not, you may have caught it in time (but I kind of doubt this).

Not meaning to be a spoil sport, but 15.6 with a tune and gears s@#ks! If your car is capable of 145mph (on bad tires), you should be running at least a second quicker. I ran consistant 14.5's with the tune and stock gears. Heck, Iwas running 15 flat stock. How you trying to launch that beast?

Humidity and Temps make a .75 difference. Posting your 1/4 time w/o the Hum & Temp is meaningless to me where during the summer it's 90%+ & 90*+.

He is in Utah so the elevation I'm sure had some effect on those times.

Thoose times still aren't that great. I ran 14.76 with 4.10s and bad rear tires in high humidity and very high temperature at Moroso.

Nope.

I sure don't.
Great story though.;)

Your car needs a front end alignment.

Many of us fell victim, including myself, to Fords misalignment specs on Marauders.

Get the numbers from Claude, (Carfixer) and fix tha tfront end before you replace the tires.

Agree'd auto-xing definatly put some wear n' tear on em!

The air density here is about 6200-7000ish. True elevation is about 4500. It was 100* outside. It beats what its supposed to.

My friends bone stock mustang 99 GT (they run what? high 14's?) here it ran high 15's stock.

Most 03/04 cobra's even moded run mid 13's.

Yes the elevation sucks but with the dynojet correction my car is pretty much right on. I'm going to go get it redyno'd soon. I'll post the results of the DR tune.

Don't believe me ask Forthhorseman your car has asthema here. Even stalled up I just get a baby churp leaving the hole. I could have bald snow tires and have the same times.

Mine have worn the same way but I have custom alignment specs on mine since my car is lowered. My car corners very nicely for a 4000+ lb car but the sacrifice is inner tire wear.

Next time I may try carfixer's specs.

NHRA says you can add .9 seconds to your sea-level ET when racing in Utah. So take .9 seconds off his time and he's running pretty good for a lightly modded n/a car.
