Cold Air/Hot Air

Fellas, as most of you know from reading my posts, I'm not the greatest mechanic, and some of the more technical aspects are lost on me. So please explain why cold air makes the car run better than hot air. It would seem that hot air will keep the fuel vaporized better for a better burn. Obviously this isn't right, but help me understand the process. As usual, thanks for the education. Ross

The more air/fuel mixture you can introduce into a cylinder, the more power the engine will make. Cool air is denser than hot air, so the MAF adds more fuel to keep the proper A/F ratio, resulting in a greater amount of mixture, therefore more power.

A supercharger or turbocharger, instead of using atmospheric air pressure (14.7 lbs/sq. in), actually FORCES the mixture into the cylinders...Voila! MUCH more power...
