:) I just found a 2004 DTR MM at a local Ford dealer in Oklahoma City and traded in a 1999 Crown Vic for it. I love the car and it was owned by a 71 year old guy who only put 31k highway miles on her and the only service repair was a wheel sensor for traction control prob (Original owner said he told a local tire shop to rotate tires front to back since he did not know it had 2 dif. tire sizes, but dealer still said they found a loose or bad sensor). Thank goodness I called him prior to test driving, because the car was kicking the throttle back and traction control light blinking when I test drove it, so I told the salesman they probably had the tires backwards and sure enough they were. After rotating the tire back it worked great.
Anyway, I love the car and it handles much better than I expected. I think I'm going to like it better than the 96 Impala SS I had. I read alot of the forums and can tell there is alot of knowledge about these cars here. Sorry, no pics yet, but it is a stock DTR color. One quick question though: Is the RPM spike on start-up normal??? :D

Welcome aboard! DTRs are very nice. Lots of great people and information on this board if you ever decide to modify the car.

Congrats. Welcome. We had 4 DTR's at our last meet. They rock, just like all the rest. Did you warn your checking account that it was going to be a bumpy road? The urge to splurge on MODS is futile to resist. Your MM is nice but a mere shadow of what is possible. Happy moding. Dennis:D

Congrats on your new DTR and welcome :welcome1: to the MM.Net !!

On start up, my MM cranks initially up to about 1,800 rpm then settles back immediately to the 1,000-1,100 rpm range. After it warms in a minute or two or three, it'll drop into the 550-600 rpm idle range.

I am assuming that you are calling that 1,800 rpm instantaneous the "Spike". It's normal IMHO. Does it every time. Now I gotta go out and look really close.

Welcome to the collective. The net is a great place to be. Even better when you have a Marauder of your own. Congrats and enjoy..

Thanks for the "welcome" replies, I'm glad to be here. I've been driving the MM this weekend around town and boy does it shift gears fast when just putting around or mildly getting on it. My 2004 F150 supercrew was like this and it never seemed to get into the higher RPM torque band unless it was downshifting from stomping on it. Later I'll look into a tuner for it. It sure is a comfortable car though and I see what all of the posts about the BFG KDW's were for, my rear are getting pretty slick in the middle!!

Mine does it, and so does my Vette. Never have figured what that's all about. Hope you don't have to burn that 10% ethanol stuff up there. Mine pinged like crazy until Dennis Reinhart sent me a new tune for my XCal2. Now it runs great again, but the mileage drops off with that garbage gas.

I have a brother-in-law in OKC, so maybe we'll be able to have our own DTR car show at one of the fine establishments up there that sells adult beverages. Gulliver's used to be my dive of choice, but that was 15 or 18 years ago. Don't even know the spots to go now. Welcome aboard.

You can tune the initial idle spike out if you want.

Welcome.

You'll find helpful vendors who can give your tranny a much better attitude. I'm really a stick-shift guy, but with a better program I'm very happy with this automatic's behavior.

Have fun!

Welcome. Yes, the rpm spike at startup is normal. I love it. Had to buy the car after hearing it the first time bone stock. Wait'll you put some Magnaflows or Flowmasters on it. heeheeheehee

The older gentleman who owned mine said he ran regular unleaded:shake: it it. It did not ping at all when I got it. I'll bet the timing was really being retarded though. I filled it up with premium from just over 1/4 tank and seems smoother now:) ?? PM me if come up to OKC, I'm not sure of good places to go, but we can try some...JD

 Welcome to the wonderful world of Marauders! I too bought my Marauder in Oklahoma, except I found mine in Tulsa. Drove up from Texas, traded in a Baby Benz and went home with the Black Beauty. I just left Texas back in July due to a job down turn, so now I'm back in the snow belt.
