I received a letter offering me an extention to my factory warranty.
Offered by Dealer Services from Lake Saint Louis, MO.
I have 72 hours to "activate" the offer.
"Gold" or "Platinum" coverage.
Anyone know anything about this?
I havent called because I dont want to be bugged if it is a scam.
So I dont know the costs.

Aren't there commercials on TV about this? I thought I saw one yesterday.

Nevermind, the Ford website only mentions a 5 year plan on new vehicles.

That is NOT a FOMOCO warranty and I would steer clear of it

If you financed your vehicle with another bank other than Ford or a regular bank (ex. Bank of America) your information was probably sold to 3rd party companies. I don't know how many the wife and I have got from companies saying "Call Now" for extending the factory warranty. I just rip it up and toss it.

You don't even have to finance to get these trash offers. I paid cash for both of our cars. Purchased them both used, off lease. I get these offers all the time. They must get your name from the State DMV.

I just put them in the "Circular File".

Same here. I get them all the time. Just a tip, if you are interested in an extended warranty, shop around including out of state..I got one for my wife's Mustang for a 1/3 less buying it from a NH dealer...

If you're really interested in a FORD extended warranty, shop around on the internet. Make sure it's a FORD warranty. They are offered for different time/mileage levels, and the level of coverage.

When you find what you want at a good price, print the web page and take it to your preferred dealer. Talk to the service manager...he'll probably take you to the general manager/owner. Ask them to match the price implying that you'd like to do business with them, but have no problem buying through the internet from some out-of-town dealer. After all, it's good at any Ford store.

Mine matched the price!

ford esp is the only way to go, these other guys can go out of business and take your money, before i got my marauder i was dealing with a guy in massachusets who bought an extended warranty from new mexico, I told him i did not want it, he tried to cash it out they gave him nothing and he spent 1500.00 dollars, i have been told if you drive the car sensibly you should not have any problems, most things that go wrong happen in the first 3 years

Yup. Ford Premium Care is the only way to go.

I don't reccomend any... as far as a car goes. I had one and I had to pay the first 100 bucks of everything. The problems I did have were like $105 and we little things like the light for the window button going out. It totally wasn't worth it because nothing major breaks... at least when you maintain it right.

There are many plans out there with different deductibles.

For example, mine is $50.00 after the OEM warranty. And up to 75k or 7 years, I believe.

Not to mention covered towing, etc.

I am very happy to have mine.

Mike.

Motorhead,

You don't buy a warranty for the 'little' things...
AND you have a choice in deductible when you do buy the warranty.
So don't whine about paying $100 every time something happens.
You could have purchased down the deductuble with more $$$,
and you would have still spent it either way.

When a transmission, Air Conditioning, or Alternator wear out within the warranty period
you'll be glad you only had to pay $100.

There you go. That's exactly right! It is also the boat I was in. Whether it is worth it or not really depends on how big the repair really is.
