Over the past few months I have noticed that my engine has been pinging more often .At first I thought it was a bad tank of gas I got at a Shell station. The first time I noticed it I put 103 octane in it and topped it off with 93 and that seemed to resolve the pinging...

A few weeks later my wife said that she heard the pinging noise again while only going up hill or when the car has a heavy load on it. I drove it and heard it as well. Back to the 103 octane topped off with 93 octane and problem solved.. Now I notice that the noise is only when I have the O/D on giving above normal acceleration, but as soon as I take the O/D off it doesnt ping no matter how much acceleration I give it... I have had the Trilogy Blower on it for 6 months and cant think of what else it could be. I know Smokie made a post several months ago regarding carbon deposits or something along those lines. I wanted to get more info on what everyone else thinks. What can I do to stop it..The 103 octane is getting pretty expensive :bigcry:

I hope that there is something I can add to the tank or something simple to resolve the issue, but knowing my luck its not that simple. Anyones input and opinion is greatly appreciated in advance

If you're just worried about carbon deposits, have you tried using fuel injector cleaner or some other form of engine cleaner? Thoose are usually good at removing desposits.

Are you still running the stock Trilogy tune?

Rob, be sure the intercooler pump is running. There should be a lot of coolant moving in the intercooler resevoir whenver the key is on.

Once you have followed Carfixers advise, this is my recommendation: TECHRON COMBUSTION CHAMBER CLEANER, after one application my pinging went away.

I'm not kidding, unless you have messed with your basic Trilogy tune there is no reason for it to cause pinging, a high compression, high performance engine does not like slow gentle driving; stop and go. It can build carbon deposits that can cause pinging.

If it don't take care of the problem, it can't hurt. It worked for me.:)

Im not running the stock Trilogy tune, but I can pull out the current chip and have it go back to the stock Trilogy tune...

Im not running the stock Trilogy tune, but I can pull out the current chip and have it go back to the stock Trilogy tune... Rob remember you have a K&N Cold air intake and a 3.2 Pulley. The stock tune would have to be up dated.

I had a part throttle ping for a bit. Only on part throttle.
The methanol injection would not engage at that point, so it did not help.
After Lidio tuned the car.... it was gone and still is.

Seafoam has been discussed here, and gotten good reviews for getting rid of deposits.

I also think the alcohol injection helps to clean things up inside.

I would follow Carfixer's advice first. The Techron cleaner is also good advice, and I have used SeaFoam with very good results. One pint in the crankcase, one pint in a full fuel tank, before your next oil change. You will see a difference, but I'm not sure you will get a cure.

My impression is that you have too much timing in the tune, or, had it tuned with the 103 octane in the system. If so, you'll need to continue with the 103 octane, or get the tune adjusted, pull some timing.

What ever you decide, be careful, detonation is damaging.

I noticed a ping also. I got in touch with my tuner and he sent me another tune which I plan to try tonight.
My last dyno session we added a degree of timing and maybe I never noticed it until now that it pinged.
