I am looking for a wheel and tire package for the winter. TireRack has 215 65 x16 front and 225 70 x16 rear Winter Force tires and Sport Edition F6 wheels. The package mounted and balanced and shipped to my house is $686. What do you guys think?
Here is a pic of the wheel. I have stock brakes.

I think the Interceptor rims are the only way to go in the winter. How are those sport editions on pot holes in early march...

Look at this...

Last winter, I found a set of Lincoln Town car stock aluminum wheels at my local L/M dealer. They get these often because folks buying new Town Cars often upgrade wheels and tires to something 20" with Vogues.

Anyway, 17x7 wheels with plenty of room for the stock brakes (I also have the EBC upgrade), and Michelin Pilots in 225/60-17 on all four corners. These are the same tires that come on CV/PIs and very suitable for all weather use.

400 bucks installed, and you'll need to buy different lug nuts to fit under the center caps. Ran them last winter, not a problem cutting through snow, a perfect solution IMHO. Drop me a note at SergntMac@aol.com, and I'll check with my dealer to see if he has any more sets on hand.

Two cautions remain...I have Traction Control on my #3 Marauder, and over 50 MPH, these tires on all four corners will throw a TC code. No problem, just shut it off. Slight speedo error too, but nominal. Good luck in your search.

EDIT/PS...Try this link to research your options?

I now have a set of the 17 x 7.5 TC wheels as well.

I need to get a set of winter tires and would like to keep the size ratios close enough to stock to not 'throw a traction control code'.

If you like truck tires and want a 'Monster Marauder' ... Mine work well and does not affect T/C or ABS.

There was a thread a couple days ago about all this...

Yep. I am suffering from 'search fatigue' and got lazy.

Fair Enough .... It's Monday ...(again)

I did make up a pretty cool Tire Calculator spreadsheet I am willing to share.

You put in your tire dimensions and it'll calculate the % change F:R

Here is the thread I had from a little over a year ago:

I went with the P71 16" steel wheels ('03 and up) with a set of the Pirelli Scorpion snow tires. Never had to put weight in the car beyond a full tank of gas, TC hardly ever came on and only for actually turning the tires, like pulling away from a stop light on an icy intersection, and were actually quieter than the stock wheel and softer riding (but worse handling - obviously).

If I have to continue driving this car in the winter after this year I would definitely do the Pirelli's again.

I think we may need a winter tire section here (watch, there already is one and I didn't 'search' for it).

In another thread, I found the following sizes if one wants to maintain a close-to-stock aspect ratio on a 17" wheel:

F: 225/60-17
R: 235/65-17

I suspect it is really not important since many are riding on the same size tire all year and Mac is running same size winters. The TC code over 50 likely wouldn't be a problem either as I would rarely be over 50 in such weather. I am told I will have 2 months of snow-delivering weather here.

Seems if I want to stick to the sizes above, I may end up in a light-truck winter tire. Any problem with that (other than visually)?

That's the thread I got the sizes from.
