View Full Version : New engine installed!

Zack installed the new engine and it's back to normal. The night I got it back Zack said my sub was blown... now how does he know that if he's just supposed to work on the engine??? It's nice and smooth again, but I have to go a day without driving it, but it'll be driven almost everyday again. There were other things that Zack mentioned that needed to be taken care of LIKE TIRES, but I'll fix that later.
Special Thanks to FordNut, Sergnt Mac and of course Zack!
More crazy stories to come along with mods that actually do things other than annoy people... I know some of you know the mods I got.

Try and take better care, of this one.
I will follow my advise 2.
Where did you get the motor?
Just a little piece of info.....
I dont think anything was wrong with engine # 1.
Dominick's MM was suffering from the notorious wiring harness issue above the driver's valve cover. It was chafed right through down to the copper wires.
Note: This wire is the power source for all of the drivers side coil packs.
Hmmm... Power wire + grounding out on metal + 4 affected spark plugs= not a good running car.
I fixed it.

[Sigh] [I know I'll regret this]...but why the "thumbs down" Icon on this thread?
Are you not happy with Zack's work?

I saw that.
I am also confused with Zack's reply.
Did this engine actually get replaced?
Did it actualy need to be?
Where is engine #1 if so?

Care to elaborate on this? Got any pics? Does this affect ALL MM's?

Yes, the engine has been replaced with a brand new crate engine Dominick bought from Brian (Ford Nut).
Yes, the wire chaffing can affect all Marauders if left unattended. Good place to start when symptoms "come and go".
I own engine #1 now. I paid Zack to do the swap and I kept the engine in return.
Winter project: Zack and I will be building a race engine out of engine #1, a complete build from top to bottom that will go in my #3 Marauder with a Kenne Bell 2.2, and I am going to use the stock Marauder cast 6 bolt crankshaft. It's all in the build, and the last engine we did came out perfect. 500 HP to the wheels and 20 mpg are nice round numbers for a daily driver...
I miss anything? Oh yeah...I have no clue on the "thumbs down" icon. Dominick has expressed nothing but thanks for our help on this project, and surely the price was right on all aspects, for all concerned. I've spoken with him three times since he took delivery, and he sure seems pleased to me. Shrug...Who knows, eh?
Where is everyone seeing a thumbs down?

When you have some extra time, could be please post some pics of said wire harness and tell us exactly what to look for so that us amateurs and prevent a problem?
The problem occurs above the very rear of the drivers valve cover.
The harness should be directly behind the valve cover, not on top of it.

I've tried to push it to the back, do you have to plug em all out?:(

Wow, hard to get everything straightened out.
Thumbs up icon has thumbs down text box and vice-versa. Software problem, but I believe Dominick meant the thumbs up as pictured rather than thumbs down.
Sounds like Dominick went to a bad dealer to diagnose his engine. The dealer told him he had bad pistons, valves, heads, etc. Rather than getting another diagnosis, he bought a crate engine from me and had Zack swap it. In the process of doing the swap, Zack found the wire chafing which has been mentioned here numerous times over the years and maybe even has a TSB in Ford's system. It's a shame unnecessary work may have been done, but Dominick does have a brand new engine in his car now.

Yes it really is a shame that this was a simple "Zack fix" and he did mention to me before that he could fix it. Reguardless I'm still glad I bought the new engine, because I don't know how good or how bad the one with 99,503 miles is... but now it sounds fine.
The icon by the way is a thumbs up, I don't know where this thumbs down is coming from and believe me I highlighted it and stuff and it's still up, but whatever I meant well. As for the dealer they get a thumbs down and I should have taken it to Zack for a second opinion anyway, but again I probably would have made the same decision.
Sergnt Mac is going get a bonus gift from me for taking my old engine off my hands. Hope he posts what it is later.

I dont think anything was wrong with engine # 1.
So Wiring brought the engine down and not a tank full of Keosene while racing at a track?
Good Luck on your new Engine Dom!
Im awaiting to hear about what new trouble you are going to get yourself into now

So Wiring brought the engine down and not a tank full of Keosene while racing at a track? It is kinda too soon to know more, were not braking down engine #1 for inspection until later this week. But, I tend to agree with Zack, no specific damage known at his time, 'cept maybe 100K mile fatigue.
