I was reading a thread over on FordTruckWorld about free mods and the subject of TPS settings was brought up. Some have determined that a TPS setting of .98 will yield the best throttle response. Guess the idea is that the TPS settings from Ford come in all over the place. From .87 up to 1.0 or more. Now it won't pick up any HP or TQ numbers and won't show up on the dyno as some of the users have said but it did help throttle response.

So has anyone tried this on out?

Here's the thread:

I did not have time to look at that thread, but I will tell you that changing the closed throttle TPS setting will do NOTHING for you. Let me explain. When you key on and the PCM powers up, it looks at the TPS voltage and whatever it is, it baselines this as 'closed throttle'. There are several throttle position breakpoints for various things like part throttle mode, WOT mode, open loop fueling, etc..., but these are calibratable settings that are programmed into your PCM. These breakpoints all use the relative closed throttle baseline setting. So fiddling with your TPS will do nothing. This is a misunderstanding that has been circulating for years now.

We need to talk about your TPS reports.

You see, we're putting the cover sheets on all the TPS reports now before they go out.

Yeah, I'm going to need you to go ahead and do that from now on. K?

And I'll make sure you get another copy of that memo.

(sorry couldn't resist)

This is a common thing for the HO 5.0 Mustang crowd.

Never read much about it in regards to the 4.6(but admittedly never really specifically looked either).
(SOHC or DOHC).

I stumbled across it reading about the 5.0 when I had my LSC.

I'd would think if there was anything major to it regarding our engines .....

We would have known about it by now.
