I just got the Autometer Ultra-lite Boost gauge (#4376) and Fuel pressure gauge (#4363).
I need to know where the best place to splice the hot wires into the system, the lights, and where to drill the hole in the firewall. I don't see anywhere that I have a strait shot at the firewall with a drill.
For those that have blazed the trail your input will indeed be greatly appreciated.

Can you wait for a pic?
There is a flat area under the kick out for the wiper motor that I used to put a 3/8 hole,
It's fliat and avoids stuff.

Gordon (HAGGIS) posted some pictures of the gauge install we did, including a few pix of the hole I drilled and grommeted for the wires.
See: "The Black Bomber gets new gauges" thread.

BJ,
I pulled the shifter gauge panel out and tapped those wires for both ignition/ground as well as lighting. I then ran the wires I tapped from there up under the dash and up the A-pillar to my gauge pod.
For going through the firewall I pulled the computer out so that I would have room to work, and then measured down about 1.5" from the bottom of the computer mount and drilled a 3/8" hole. I used the computer mounting area as a point of reference so that I would have a common place I could measure from both sides of the firewall, that way I was sure it was clear on both sides. I used a rubber grommit I bought at Radio Shack and ran all my gauge wiring through there.
The whole thing was a piece of cake, but took hours of work to make sure the installation was clean and perfect. Lots of zip ties to secure wiring, and that black plastic wire housing to protect everything. I'm really pleased with the results, though, and it was worth taking the time to make it all look like it came from the factory that way.
Good luck!

There are at least 2 or 3 grommets already in the firewall... use one of them. Either snake your wire(s) thru next to the existing wire(s) or use an awl to punch a hole and run your wire(s) thru that hole.

I like the Grommet on the Firewall on the Passenger Side Footwell.
Pill the carpet back, and there it is :D
