The following takes place 45 minutes after the new engine install on Stony Island in Chicago's southside.
I just got off the skyway and got into town when I stop at a red light. A red Mustang (looks like a 95 because of the headlights) pulls beside me and looks at me. I knew I could take him because his car had 20's which will slow the car down. So the light turns green and I give it 1/4 throttle and he starts to pass me, I gun it and so does he, were both going around 70 and by that speed I was 4 car lengths up, until a car pulls infront of us making a turn across our street, the Mustang slows down and I keep on the throttle. The car got outta my way without speeding up and the guy pulls behind me.
A few blocks down he gets next to me, but won't look at me. I roll down the window and yell "Are you having fun yet?" He looks at me and looks back at the road without saying a thing. I could tell he wasn't happy to lose to a black sedan. Now I don't think this was a big deal, but it did sound like he was packing a V8. I would take down Mustang V8's from the mid 90's all day as long as the mods were nothing more than an exhaust and intake when I had engine #1.
I'll try to take my car to the track and hope for low 15s, but we'll see what happens. Still feels a little slow, but that maybe my cats or just the engine streaching out.... I've also heard there really is no break in period for an engine too.
Adventure story number 1 for engine number 2!

Give me a break, you arent going to stomp a stock Mustang GT with a stock Marauder. You are giving away too much of a weight advantage, especially to the lighter 95 Mustang. The Newer Mustangs weigh more than the 04 and back Mustangs. Every Mustang I have owned was faster than a stock Marauder, period. *****, even my 85 Mustang GT walked all over the Marauder when the Marauder only had exhaust and a chip. You do know the easiest way to tell if the Mustang was a V8? Dont listen to the exhause, count the Tail pips....like this...1, 2...must be a V8.
Still not a bad victory even if the Mustang was a V6.

My buddy has a 1995 GT convertibe and I killed him everytime dispite his intake and Magnaflow exhaust system. The car I raced had 2 pipes and yes I know the single pipes are V6. Still this guy had a Cobra badge on the fender, but I think he bought that. If it really was a Cobra this guy doesn't know how to drive, that car isn't running good or they really made them slow back then.
Again this was a mid 90's Stang not an 85 and certianly not a current one. I know I don't stand a chance with a current GT unless it's the driver.

Dave, You Stang lover, I remember when the GT Mustang only had a crum over two hunderd horsepower.
Besides, Motorhead left out the part, about the Stang having over 200K and running on a temp spare! :P

I do know my Stangs Brad!
The age and mile may have played a part, maybe catching a driver off guard, which is VERY easy to do with the Marauder! It really is the ultimate sleeper, people think you are nuts when you want to run them. I found some numbers for that era Mustangs and they are close to ours. I discovered that a stock 94-95 Mustang GT will run anywhere from 14.4 - 14.9 in the 1/4 mile, and will 0-60 around 5.9 to 6.1 sec. While we know that a stock Marauder will run anywhere between 15.0 to 15.5 in the 1/4 mile, and will 0-60 around 6.7 to 7.1 sec.
1994 Ford Mustang GT 6.1 14.9 (C&D Dec '93)
2003 Mercury Marauder 6.9 15.4 (C&D July '02)

I would never argue that, Pal!
I know you have to go back a little farther than '94 for a MM, to outrun a Pony.
I have seen several Mustangs of the earlier forms, barely able to achive the fifteen second range.

Yea my buddys Mustang GT convertible from 95 has a 5.0 and his best run was a 15.8. We was very ticked off especially when I found out it came with only 215hp. :( I really did feel bad for him because it is a pretty slick looking car. He still doesn't know what to do with it.

I don't think he knows how to drive it....my 85 GT 'only' had 210 HP but it would run 14.9s @ 93 mph all day long.
If his is a convertible with an automatic then maybe they are that slow...

Completely Unscientific Comparison:
My wife drives a stock (far as I know) 2000 stang vert automatic. specs say stang is around 800ish lbs lighter and has 265 HP IIRC. Stock vs. stock the Mustang would probably have taken the MM. However, with Magnaflows, PHP intake and reinhart tune, the wife says the MM is faster. She drives her car during the week and chauffers me around in the MM on weekends. Quite frankly, she outranks the rest of you guys. :) What she says, goes. Therefore, a 2003 MM with minor mods beats a 2000 auto stang vert.:D

I Traded a 95 GT Convert for my Marauder......
Off the line, the GT will kick a Marauders butt..... From 60mph the Marauder has better legs.
Never actually got slips to prove this, this just is what my a$$ tells me. Even if you had a lighting fast reaction time in a Marauder, a GT would out pull you on the low side no problem.

94-95 auto verts are pretty slow. I don't find this story too hard to believe because a lot of 94-95's have a lot of miles and the motors are getting tired. But it could have been a 96 in which case its not far fetched at all. From what I have seen it was not until 98 that the mod motor GT's were running quicker than the 5.0 GT's. You can't tell the difference between a 94-98 by the headlights. It's the tail lights that give it away.

Funny I own a 90gt hatch, with 61,000 oringinal miles and reading the post I can't remember how it ran stock because I modified the car quite early in its life, and it been sitting in my fathers garage in North Carolina for the last 7 years.

In Alabama at a local track I witnessed with my own eyes an 04' Marauder kill a 05' Vette by a whole carlink. I never got to look under the hood of either though. So its a mystery!?????????????????????? ???????????????

Once I witnessed a pair of 2003 Marauders beat a Ford GT Supercar at a local track here in Michigan, I think they had a couple of mods though. Another mystery?

No, He lifted when Mike crushed the GT out of the hole. I dont buy the wounded clutch excuse. He made 2 or 3 more runs after he ran Mike, cant do that with a "blown" clutch. The GT was soundly beaten by two Marauders. Both Marauders beat the GT's best time for the night, even the ones before his clutch supposedly went south. Can't believe everything you hear.

At MV-II I ran 15 flat with a stock marauder no mods of any type. Also had 300 lbs of junk in the trunk:)

Not my first choice but those numbers backed up the numbers from other forums I checked. I know how much C&D means to folks here and wanted them to feel warm and fuzzy over it. I think the C&D numbers are conservative and their driver was used to driving a volvo, not a performance car.

I seem to run better with a full tank of gas and stuff in the back so your not alone on that one. Probably has something to do with weight distribution.

How about a race for something fun...like cash or pink slips Dom? I will let you choose the instrument of your demise! 85 Mustang GT....04 Mach 1.....06 Mustang GT.....or the Marauder. If you want, you can wait a couple of months and you can line up with my 07 GT500.

I let a nice red gt mustang beat me a few days back. I was interested in a little carousing side by side but after about eighty in a 65. I just had to let him go *sigh* after he had gunned it to over a 90. I know the weight disadvantage is daunting but I think a moving take off would at least provide a challenge.

It's Car and Driver. When you want to prove an argument on how fast a Marauder isn't, you pick the magazine with the made up times for the 2003 Marauder.
The C&D times have been discussed here enough to cause headaches, and always proven to be wrong.
