Jerry, I need some help and advice...
On my project, it would really be great if I could eliminate that evaporative emissions device that bolts to the firewall just above the passenger valve cover. It's the one that has one vacuum tube to the tank, one to the intake tube before the throttle body and one that appears to go to the the upper intake.
In another thread in the Garage, I've asked for help in having someone modify a coolant crossover tube for the front of my motor and thing that the bung with the small line running to the upper intake might have something to do with this emissions device. If these both can be removed, that makes is easier to remove the 1.25 inches of tubing to bring it closer to the heads.
It was mentioned somewhere else here that you might have removed this emissions device. if so, what did you do with all the connections to it (seal them?) and where in the computer did you tell it that this does not exist and not throw a CEL.
If the above looks as clear as mud and you wouldn't mind a phone call, just let me know and I'll be happy to follow up.
Cheers, and thanks in advance!
John

And here is a picture of the device I want to remove:

John, I have a crossover tube to your specs in stock.
Look at this photo:

The sensor bung on the pass. side has been relocated to the tod facing the passenger side.
Its yours if you think it will work.
Also, the small coolant line has been removed and welded shut.

We have a winner! That is EXACTLY what I'm looking for.
I will call you tomorrow to make arrangements.
Thanks ever so much!

John, I believe that is a DPFE sensor.
Mine still has this.
John, look here:

Page 2 tells you exactly what to remove in the software.
I will be doing this as well.

I'm going to look this part up in the Big Red Bible, but I don't think this is the DPFE. I looked at the link Zack posted and the codes referred to are all EGR related and not Evap Fuel related.
Also, just FYI, there is an excellent site that covers OBD codes called, appropriately, www.odb-codes.com (http://www.odb-codes.com) . I looked up the potential codes there and I think the device I am wanting to remove deals with codes P0440 through P0455. So this is where I am going to narrow my search.
I have a feeling that short of eliminating ALL the sensors on the factory gas tank as well, I cannot remove this device.
Jerry, have you put any thought into this process yet?
Thanks in advance!

John, this is what DFPE stand for:
Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)
The vacuum from the throttle body suck fumes in through this sensor at the right time.
The thread I linked you to is exactly right.

That is what DPFE stands for, however, on our cars, this device is incorprated into the EGR System Module (EGR Valve). The device shown in the picture is part of the EVAP system. It is called a Vapor Management Valve (VMV), and it controls the flow of purge from the Evap canister to the engine. It can be eliminated in software, however, you may still want to run a purge system of some kind.
In the old days, you just ran the line to a ported vacuum source on the carb. On our cars (or yours for that matter) I don't know how purge would be managed without the VMV. May not be a problem on the Pro-Rauder...

I was going to remove this "thing" to make room for something else but I think now I'll just leave well enough alone. When I move to a Fuel Cell (next year) I'll disconnect all this crap and then it will be gone.
I have to manifold ports, one under the throttle bodies to provide constant vacuum to drive all the standard manifold parts, and one in the upper blower plate for the vac/boost gauge and the FRPS (since it needs to see both).
The old EVAP line went Post-MAF so I assume I can just let the upper vacuum pull on it when commanded to. Unless someone has already disconnected this and can tell me how to safely vent the tank and tweak the computer, I'll just wait.
Thanks for the help and suggestions anyway everyone!
John
