I have the JLT kit and I am pretty happy with it but I just feel the need to do something different. I was thinking about this http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/VIB2875.htm
Then get rid of the 45 degree rubber angle, bend one end of the tube to match the throttle body oval and using a straight connector. Any opinions?

The pipe in question is metal correct? I think you'll get more heat soak with the metal which will heat the incoming air. You'll need some type of insulation. The JLT & K&N use plastic which doesn't transfer as much heat. The company also has colored silicone elbows.

Here is a rubber part resource, just in case the whole 'metal' thing doesn't work out. ;)

I thought about the heat soak. I have an idea. I can make a giant velcro coozy that I can wrap around the tube to insulate it for driving but when I'm at a show I can remove it and show off the polished aluminum.

Keep in mind the JLT is 4.5" OD and the metal is 4" OD.
You will just need a 4.5-4" reducer. If you do we have them.
Thanks

4" PVC fittings can be heated and squeezed to fit the Ford oval TB. Takes a little care and work to make it look nice but it will work. PVC is nice because you can prep and paint it, bondo it, engrave it, whatever. Silicon thermal barrier for a coating should be better than a koozie.
I have always wondered how much more power you could make by sucking engine heat up with the pre-injector fuel. Probably conflict with the detonation curve and overall reduce the total fuel charge, but the idea being the opposite of a cool can. Maybe wrap the intake plumbing with fuel line, lol!

I replaced my JLT with an aluminum up pipe from Reinhart's S/C kit. It's ceramic coated to reflect heat away from the air charge, and my IATs are 8-10 degrees above ambient air. Peek here?

Looks really expensive. It does sweep to a very good location for the maf and filter though.
