One of my fog lights is out. I hoping it's the bulb. Bought one during my lunch hour today. How difficult is it to replace?

Took me about 5 minutes to replace both, laying on my back in the driveway. Push the little access panel up in the plastic at either side, reach in, disconnect, twist old bulb out and put the new one in.

Elevate the front end.
Either reach behind or remove (remove is better so you can see) the rubber mud guard (several 10mm bolts and a christmas tree fastener)
Unplug old bulb. (Clip plug)
Twist out (1/3 turn) old bulb.
Replace bulb.
Reverse procedure.
PS. You ARE going to get dirty.

Something I have found out. Check the fog light harness connectors. Both of mine were corroded and was causing what seemed to be burnt out bulbs. I haven't been able to find replacement hardshell pigtails from the dealer(actually Motorcrafts website).

True. There's 2 connectors. One at the bulb and one near the christmas tree fastener close to the front of the tire in a potential wet environment.

Thanks again guys, I'll check that first. I was following jdando on Sunday driving home from steam locomotive chasing and it was raining. He called my cell to tell me I had a fog light out. I wonder if the wet weather might have caused it.
Check out the thread.

As with all halegon lights, DO NOT touch the bulb. The oils from your skin will cause the bulb to explode. If you get the buld dirty use some rubbing alcohol to clean it off.

Went to change the fog light bulb tonight and found out there is a velcro flap that allows easy access to the fog light area. Sweet. See attached.

While you're in there, Swing the fog lamp assy. down and yank that little metal diffuser out of the lamp holder.

Yes. This is what I meant by "access panel" in my original comments.

Hi Eric,
In one ear and out the other. I read your post then read the next one about removing the bolts. Sorry, you are correct.
Thanks again,
Curt

That aint no lie.... and if you change the bulbs at night make sure your driveway isnt right next to an ant pile with ants crawling across the driveway....that hurt :D
