Blue Oval - Simple question I hope will a stock Marauder driveshaft fit a 2002 Crown Victoria?? Thanks!
Yes, qualified with a .....

You will need the extended tail housing ( part # F5UZ-7A039-A and gasket - part # F7AZ-7086-A ) for the transmission.

*As long as you're down there, might as well install a METCO drive shaft safety loop ( part # MDL2300 ).

How much labor is required to install that tail housing? Is that a "do it yourself" type thing or a stealership type thing?

It CAN be a do-it-yourself, however, since you have to loosen/move/etc. the transmission cross-member ( which is the hardest part ), it's a helleva lot easier to have someone with a lift do it.

*You're talking about 30minutes>1hour worth of labor for everything.

Seems to me that the correct answer to the question si "no, not without changing the tailshaft assembly, ect, ect..."

However that said, what exactly is the benefit of a Marauder drive shaft on a 2002 CV? Is it an upgrade of some sort?

what exactly is the benefit of a Marauder drive shaft on a 2002 CV? Is it an upgrade of some sort?Yes, sort of. The MM driveshaft is the same as the one on the CVPI. It is shorter than the stock CV/GM one, so is more suitable for use with a higher RAR, or sustained high-speed driving.

The stock Marauder drive shaft has the same rating as the CV 128 MPH so why install it

Even stock Marauder's need to get the upgrade to the drive shaft treatment....

Alla Metal Matrix drive shaft or Carbon Fiber....

either way far better balance....

Question;
As I understand a few of the MMn members are running the CVPI AMMX drive shaft.
This drive shaft was found on 99-00 CVPIs (RAR went to 3.55, so higher driveline speed was anticipated and required an even lighter driveshaft).

Seeing as this is a 99-00 drive shaft, and you are using it on a 2003+, why can a 03 d/s NOT be used on a 98-02?

Also, Dennis you posted this:

The 03/04 Marauder shaft will fit a 03 and up CV not a 01 or older Why would it fit a 2002 (provided tailshaft extension housing is purchased), and not an -01? What changes occured between 01 and 02 to make the driveshafts incompatible?

Anyways, here is some info I have posted on CVN about panther drive shafts:

Link 2 (http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB23&Number=1116770&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&vc=1)
The above link was directed towards a typical panther, for a MM w/ factory tire sizes think of the limits of one gear step lower than yours. IE 3.55s in a MM create similar driveline speeds to 3.27s in a typical panther.

You say potatoe, I say tomatoe. :D

Aluminum versus steel ( unless the CV is a P71 ).
