I've never understood why sellers list such ridiculously low starting prices compared to their reserve or Buy-It-Now prices. Do people really think that they are going to win this car for $202.50?

I buy a lot of stuff on E-Bay. It is addictive.

Quite ferocious. I think the best thing about it is that it's a dealer option and warrantied! The price is a bit scarey, though.

I sold about 2,000 baseball cards on E-Bay. I found out that when you start at a low price, the # of bids gets quite high. People tend to look at the # of bids and if they see a high number, they say "this must be a good item. I'll go take a look at it.

While my items were nowhere near the price of the car, it seemed to work well. I started a 1958 Mantle card for $1.00. It got over 75 bids (with 30 coming in the last 5 minutes of the auction) and sold for $863. Not a bad profit for something I paid a penny for when I was a kid.

When you have a reserve, as this person does, there is no danger in having to sell the car for less than you really want.

Now if you had taken that penny and inves...Nevermind.

There have been quite a few Marauders on Ebay and most of them never reached there reserve. I think this one will also, not meet the reserve. IMHO. John

IMHO, VTengines (seller) did a nice marketing move and that's all it is intended to be.

Look at us talking about it. I'm sure they know about this website, but didn't want (or could) get on as a sponsor. Now look who is talking about this thing ! Us!! Word-of-mouth, still one of the best marketing tools out there!

Ebay, hundreds millions of people view it. You get huge market exposure for only pennies on the Dollar !

Like I said, only my $.02. I have no marketing experience what-so-ever, so all the above might be BS ! Who knows.

These guy's are lagit, I spoke with about a month ago when they were starting this project, It was in fact what prompted me to get all the mod info from Mac to compile a proposed set of stages for meaningful mods. I have been a little nuts at work and have not had time to put this together(I still have all your info Mac) The thing that really struck me here was the "Stroker" kit. They offer this kit in two stages and it runs around $3600.00.(takes the motor to 302 in)
Now I know what your going to say "God I have to go into the motor" but consider this : 300 horse's at the wheels and 386# of twist! no change in drivability and the bottom end grunt we all want.
having gone this route not only delivers that which we all want, it also sets the stage for the "Blower" with the beef needed to stay together. This is the road for me when I do start my mods.

What's really crazy on eBay is people thinking they will get a car for so little under the "buy it now" The reserve could be less than the buy it now, obviously, but do they really think it's only going to be $18,000?

Changing the displacement from 4.6 liters to 5.0 liters as well as the other modifications increased the wheel horsepower on this vehicle from 233 to 300 (28.7% increase), and torque increased from 255 lb/ft to 386 lb/ft (51.3% increase).

Hasn't Mac and other's here got similar results just with simple bolt ons and a chip?

So the question is...which one is faster/better: the KB MM-S, or the MM VT???

I suspect the KB and VT versions of the MM, would perform about the same before, or, after fine tuning.

The performance question (at this level) is the difference between a roots style (Trilogy's Eaton powered MM) and centrifical style (KB=Vortex, VT=Novi) blowers, and such.

All of them are going to push your MM into that 450 HP range, and all of them are going to represent a "big bucks" investment into your MM. Youshould be asking "which one will live longer?"

That was my goal, RC, to see the factory power numbers at the rear wheels, but I've run out of bolt-ons. I LOVE the way this car runs, and I haven't seen her best performance yet, it's got to get a little warmer around here first. It doesn't look like I'm going to hit my power numbers, but it's been one Hell of a ride...

I've met the VT crew and the auction MM, it IS one beautiful and well designed automobile. Tom Schwalm and his VT staff are top notch too. Wish I could say more, but they are not supporting vendors. I do wish they would fix that nudge nudge...TOM!

I know you've said a supercharger isn't in "her" future Mac, but a stroker kit maybe?

I think I'm going to enjoy my summer, and see what rolls out for '04. I am very pleased with where I am at now.

Very wise Mac. I'd rather just enjoy it as it is now too.
