I just recently purchased a 03 Marauder with 24K miles. It's in great shape except for being a southern owned car it has a lot of bug damage to the front bumper, upper grill and hood. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this gunk? The best product etc..
No performance parts yet, but soon to come.

Thanks,
Matt

Unfortunately, if it's from love bugs, they have eaten into the paint.
Post pics please, and welcome to the site!

If they are not "love bugs" and have already eaten into the paint use Bug & Tar Pre-Wash Gel by RainX. I also use one of the sponges that are covered in mesh. Just don't scrub too hard.

I thought a love bug was an STI!

I thought a love bug was an STI!
They are insidious flying insects that show up in the deep south in May and September.
If you don't scrub them off within a few days, the acid from their innards will eat into paint.
Why are they called love bugs?
Cuz they fly around copulating...
Too much information?
I hate em.

I'm hooked on the Meguires 3 step wax and cleaner. The cleaner portion (step 1) should remove all the late little critters with minimum effort. The polish and wax will hide any minor imperfections they may have left.

I would not use any kind of sponge with mesh on it especially if the car is black. Use some kind of bug and tar remover or get yourself a clay bar and use that.

I use creamy peanut butter with a wet sponge to get rid of bugs and road tar. Catch it within two days and comes right off.

I had to have my front end and roof repainted due to the love bug damage. Yes, insurance paid for it.
