Not sure what it is called but I am trying to find out how to remove the peice around the shifterbecause the clear part with gear positions (P R N D...) is nasty dirty and I can't seem to get it clean while it is installed. How hard would it be to take that off? Any and all help is appreciated.

I believe it "snaps" off. Don't have my MM with me or I'd go check it out.

No too difficult .....

Turn key on ( but do NOT start the car )
Foot on brake, and move the shift lever to N(eutral)
Push-down the collar on the shifter shaft
Remove the two torex set screws in the back that are now exposed
With thumb on the selector button ( so that the spring doesn't eject ), slide the handle up
Disconnect the O(ver)D(rive) wire connector ( is usually tucked-up into the handle )
Remove the handle
Pop the shifter bezel
Everything will now be intuitively obvious :D

Thanks alot for those instuctions I've always wanted to know how to do that. Does anyone think it would be possible to mod in an extra button on the shifter. I love the OD button and would like to try and re-route my nitrous activation switch nearby.

Save the time and use a little friend I like to call Q-tips I use them for all the hard to reach places when detailing the interior.

Anybody have a good price/lead on a new shifter bezel. Mine has come up with a small scratch and it bugs me.

Thanks for the info guys, I am going to try the q-tips first then remove it if that failed. What should I use for cleaner?

I've found that a soft cotton cloth and furniture polish work awsome on that piece.
