OK guys. Just returned from a trip in our 03 300A. My wife hates this car! Thinking of selling it or trading it. It has 50700 miles on the clock. Only two cars I am considering at the moment.
One is an 06 Lincoln LS, which they no longer make. Because of this, they are discounted heavy. I saw one dealer out west who wanted me to trade then and there. He had a new 06 LS on the showroom with a sign on the windshield of $29003. Said it was with the $8000 Ford rebate and dealer discount of $300 over invoice. One of my local dealers, whom I will see tomorrow said that he can beat that. Said I can get "$9000" rebate which is with Ford Owner Loyalty, and in addition the car will go for $1000 under invoice. I calculate that this is about $13000 under list.
Other car that I am considering, but dealers don't have yet, is the 07 MKZ with the 3.5 V6. Don't want the 06 Zephyr as Ford is not giving much of a rebate, even though all the local dealers are loaded with 06 Zephyrs.
OK, anyway, don't know what my 03 300A with 50700 miles, stock except for Flowmaster mufflers, is worth, both in a trade-in or in an outright sale.
Anyone have any idea what it is worth?

What's to hate about a Marauder? Did she give specifics? What makes you think she'll like an LS?

What your wife hates a marauder! No way! She hurt your marauders feelings. Personally I would keep your marauder over a LS or a MKZ. If you did want to sell it you could probally get around 18 or so. Depending on what type of shape its in. I feel bad for ya man. Those are such harsh words to say about such a great car. You have to ask what she hates about the marauder.

Yeah, we need to know what she "hates" about the car. If you came back from a long trip, I am guessing it has something to do with comfort, or ride quality, or something of that nature?? I can tell you this.. both the LS and Zepher platform cars ride much harder and have a much more cramped smaller interior space than a Marauder, so if comfort is the issue then she'll REALLY hate those two cars. Other than comfort, I can't think what she could hate about the MM that would cause you to sell it.

A quick search on cars. com.... $10,000-24,000. I would think $17,000 to 18,000 would be in the neighborhood.
Maybe the car is too loud for the Mrs., get someones take-off stock exhaust. Perhaps some Naake QA-1's would address any ride issues she had. I think either would be cheaper than to trade it.

Mr Power Surge,
We have driven the Zephyr and can find nothing wrong with the ride. We both like the ride. Have not driven the 06 LS but will drive one tomorrow.
I do not want an 06 Zephyr and will hold out for an 07 MKZ if I don't buy an LS
My wife hates the harsh ride of the MM. Says it rides like a truck (although some trucks of today have a pritty good ride). Our Continentals (two 98's and our present final edition 02) all have/had good rides and handle great.
We may not like the LS when we drive one tomorrow. Dealer does not have one with the equipment I want, (says he can get it) so it may be a mute point. If I don't buy, I'll just wait for the MKZ.

I havent been married all that long, so I'm not much on giving advice, but if I were you, I would battle to keep the Marauder. I compromise on things like duvet covers, doilies and those fuzzy toilet seat covers, and she lets me keep my car, even though she doesnt like it.
I kinda like that my wife doesnt like my marauder, it means she'll never ask to drive it!

Tell your wife that you hate her shoes and see if she sells them..... Seriously, if your car is in good shape I bet it would go for $18-$20K. Mine is an 03 300b w/40k on the clock and it blue-books for $18.5k. Anyway, I'd sell it, not trade it in. Good luck!!
p.s. in the Spanish language, the word 'esposas' has two meanings: one is 'wifes', the other is 'handcuffs'. :D

My father taught me...
"Everyting for sale is worth only what anyone will pay you for it."
That said, I think you know that the "trade-in" numbers are a smoke screen.
The more you push for a higher trade-in value, the more the "deal" gets packed/stacked at the other end.
You will get only what they want to give, and not a dime more.
Sell it privately, that's real cash in your hand.
May not end up being the same numbers, but it won't be money you financed to yourself in the new "deal".

I don't get it...you come back from a LONG trip and your wife tells you she hates your MM and immediately you want to sell your car.....grow a pair and tell her that there are only 11,052 Marauders in existence and millions of single women who would love to go for a ride in your car. Maybe that will put things in perspective for her....Besides there is a Man Law that clearly states never to do what your wife asks you the first time.

Harsh ride? I call BS on that one, especially if you have the stock suspension. I agree with what not5-0 said about Man Law. Does the wife have her own car? If so, let her use it and keep yours. If you sell your car, make sure it is because YOU want to and not because the 'other' doesn't like it. You'll regret it later dearly otherwise. Honestly, the best you'll get private, since it is 300A with 40k on it, is probably $15-16k. My 300B was $19K before tax with 32k miles on it. I doubt it would go over $16k unless it is absolutely perfect.

No. mm is verry harsh to alot of non-car enthueasts. Try borrowing steelies from someone and see if the softer tirewalls eleviates the "Harshness" issue. If not then she is basicly dead set in you getting rid of it. have you spent more time with it or shown a great deal of affection twards the car in front of her? Hypotheticly if you do give in and sell it, get something you enjoy equaly as much as the mm at least.

Man that just sucks! My prettier half wants a 04 black MM like their is no tomorrow as long as it has a sunroof. If you do end up selling it, I would private sell it and continue to drive it until it's sold.

Update - Took an 06 LS out for a test ride and wife does not like it. Says that there is no room in the back seat, plus it is not much smoother than my MM. I also don't like the idea of the battery located in the trunk. I thought it had plenty of power. Neither of us liked how it looks so "boxey". So,,,,, no LS in our future.
Then just for the heck of it, we took a ride in an 06 Zephyr, loaded with beaucoup options. Wife says that it rides much better than the LS. Yes, she likes the Zephyr, (so do I) however I had some issues with that particular car. First off, normal easy acceleration from a stop light is OK, but when you first tromp on it from a stop light, it bogs down (starts off slowly) for a couple seconds before it "catches" and then it accelerates pritty good (for a 3.0 engine). The other issue was that the A/C was not that cold. Was only pumping air at about 60F. My MM pumps air at 45F and my Continental at 40F. Don't know if all of them are like that, but this one was.
We are going to wait for the 07 MKZ to come out in October, and will try one of those. Hope the 3.5 engine does a better job than the one I test drove, plus will check the A/C. If we don't like the MKZ, we will be keeping the MM.
Thanks for all the comments.

Charlie knows a good thing when he has it, however should Lisa become available I have a lot of room left on my credit cards.:D and I am putting in first dibs. The lady makes me laugh, a lot.

I talked to the trooper who usually brings one of his "other" cars there and he said they are getting up in mileage. So, they may be going back to the person who initally donated them. As for damaged MMs, I knew of only 1 that was at the local FHP building a while back that took a front hit.

I have a similar problem with my wife Susan and mu Marauder. She doesn't like it too much, mostly because I believe she's a little afriad of it. The size, the power, premium gas, mileage, RWD, etc. She does love riding in Big Red as a passenger. She says its very comfortable and has a nice ride. She hasn't driven it in awhile though. But, in my case she doesn't care if we own Big Red, as long as I'm happy with it! She very sweet that way. She drives our old SHO with an automatic trans.

My wife hates the harsh ride of the MM. Says it rides like a truck ......
Could be that she's just jealous of your MM. ;) The "harsh ride" thing sounds like she's just fishing for excuses. My wife loves the MM and has no problem with the comfort, the ride, the sound, or the style. She does however take note of the owner's "obsession" with washing and waxing the beast. Cleaning up her Freestyle at the same time seems to soothe the concern.
Sounds like you have a "High Maintenance" woman there who won't be satisfied until you get a Bentley Continental GT, Rolls Royce Corniche, or Mercedes 500SEL. I heard that they ride kinda nice. :D

Your sig says you have a Continental.
Heck, just take her out in that car only.
Have your "stag" fun in the MM.... she'll hate it even more!!!
My bride would NEVER complain about my car(s). She wants ME to be happy.
If I were to extrapilate on that, I would look at the possibility that you are not happy with the car. Therefore, I suggest you buy the Supercharger kit of your choice, add a set of 4:10 or better gears and an extra set of rear tires.
Put it all together and you'll have a "new" car that will make you much happier.
Honest.
Best of luck either way.

I think Dave said it best.
I'd like to add... I behaved similarly with my last wife. I let her have and do and I did whatever she asked... even if I didn't like it. She eventually left and went back to her ex who beat her in their marriage.
Moral of the story: Grow a set. Stand your ground (it's only a car!). Remind her of the things you let her go on (Shoes, drapes, duvets, home decor, etc) and tell her you are keeping the 'MAN' car you love. Not only will she respect you (although she'll act pissed), it'll turn her on a little, too.
Be a man. Keep the man car. Elevate the car as important. 'Allow' her to ride in it if she's a good girl.
Oh yeah, Dave's right that the MM is a mac wagon. She's jealous.
Good luck bro. Hope you keep your ride.

Bob, I have nothing to add, smart aleck or otherwise. MM ride is a bit stiffer than the Crown Vics we were used to. Thankfully, Freddy loves the power and acceleration and understands the tradeoff for cushy ride vs. handling. For panther cushy, I like Lincoln town cars. Not too huge, soft ride. Also have ridden in some nice caddies.

Hide the MM with me (I'll make sure she is run everyday at a reasonable speed), "cook the books" Enron style, and say you got robbed on the trade-in to make her happy (that should make her feel bad and get you sympathy points). Oops...gotta go...my wife's home.

What happened to the FHP Marauders on I-75?
A couple of them were involved in an accident around Micinopy (can't remember how to spell it) but close to the turnpike. I didn't witness it, my dad did though. Said, "FHP had cars just like your's and they were wrecked"
Dunno but glad it looks like you will get to keep your MM. Some of you know I went through hell with mine and FMC and wouldn't part with it now for love nor money.
