Nice looking rides. There are some Chargers here with the 5.7 in it. Tough looking, but a Stang looks good.

Just curious, is Ford actually building a Stang "police package" like the previous severe service, purpose-built PD Mustangs? Or are these agencies buying retail GTs and tricking them out themselves. :)

No police package is offered. The new Mustangs are bad asssed enough not to need the package. The suspension is more than adiquate, it has the best brakes of any Mustang so far, comes in an automatic, etc. The only thing that they may swap out is the Alternator so it can keep up with the added electrical demands of lights, radios, radar units and Mobil Data Terminals.
Gotta love those Stangs....

Gotta love those Stangs.... Thanks. IIRC the old Mustang severe duty set-up included (in addition to the usual engine & suspension upgrades) a larger output alt, heavyduty cooling/radiator (beefed up water pump & silicon hoses etc), upgraded trans cooling, cooling loop for the pwr steering pump, additional bracing/welding in the unibody, heavier upholstry materials and seat frames, and of course the HD wireing harness with additional aux hook-up points. Actually participated in ordering several unmarked LX notchback versions of these badboys in 1985-1986; they were a little cramped once all the electronics were wedged in, but real screamers out on the street. Wonder how the new ones are gonna fare durabilitywise in everyday service?:D
