View Full Version : Headlights flicker on, off, on, off, etc...
On the way home tonight (in the daylight) my headlights kept going on and off, on and off... like they would just flicker on and off... I turned on the wipers to keep them on, otherwise everyone would think I was flashing my lights at them.
Is this as simple as changing the Lighting Control Module??? Where's can I find the best price? I did not find this part on www.rockauto.com...
Thanks.

Just the headlights or all of them?
Loose connection somewhere?
I turned off the switch and it still cycled on and off very quickly... I parked in my driveway and sat very still and it kept doing it. It stopped doing it when I turned on the wipers (lights stay on as usual) and when I pulled in my dark garage (lights stay on as usual). In sunlight though they freaked out.

If the switch was on auto, I would first say a screwy autolamp sensor.
But since you said even with the switch off it sounds to be the LCM. It will be a dealer part, unless you can find one from a junker.

Ozz,
Sounds like your LCM to me, too. BTW, did you change your gauges or add gauges to your car? Or anything that ties into the LCM?
So what cars have this exact module? I assume '03 and up CV, GM, MM but are there any others?
The dealers are quoting me $415. Can anybody out there get it cheaper?
Thanks.
ps: yea, I replaced the non functioning oil gauge and voltmeter but did not do any sort of rewiring...

I looked on this website and found one. They want $232 for the part.
$414.29 was the list price.

Thanks!
I was not particularly patient and found one at Ford Parts Direct for $307 and ordered it yesterday... I guess it pays to wait sometime.
Thanks again.

I was talking to Scott Levine at Team Ford on Monday, and he mentioned that of all the LCM's replaced, all had wired up different gauges from the OEM's and/or added more stuff like underbody valet lights. Could be a coincidence. Failing LCM's are getting more common with aging Marauders.
Interesting comment about the gauges... I wouldn't think that functional AutoMeter gauges wired to the stock wires, with new sending unit would cause this problem.
Very strange. I can't even think of any interface that could possibly cause any electrical load difference, etc... if the sweeping oil pressure gauge draws more current, it is slight.
Thanks.
