Hey Guys/Gals,

How do get better throttle response????
Without having to get a supercharge :)

Here are my current modifactions:
SuperChips Custom Tuner 9100 (Lidio)
180 Degree Thermostat
Ford Motorsport 4.10 Gears
Steeda Underdrive Pulleys
K&N Coldair Kit

But would really like to get rid of the pedal lag.
Any ideas???

Just turn the distributor clockwise a bit.......

Just kidding. I have the same issue....{I just call it a bog}

Larger 75mm throttlebody (stock 65mm), 1" throttlebody spacer and 1/2" intake spacer worked for me and my SOHC. I would guess something similar would work for your engines.

I hope to take it to the track again before years end to see if there was any 1/4 mile improvement.

Torque converter sounds like a plan for it, also might be time for some exhaust work, headers, even just shortys and an xpipe would help.

You're starting to wrap up all the cheap mods and getting into the moderately priced stuff it sounds like...i.e. tc, headers/exhaust, throttle body and spacer may help just a bit...not entirely sure how they'll do for low end torque though...

Heard some good things about the Denso Iridium plugs.

I thought the intake spacer gave me better response. Maybe it was in my head, too.

I notice better throttle response when I instaled my Granatelli Motorsports Ignition Coil Connectors that Wes sells at http://www.innovativeinterceptors.com/performance.html

PHP intake spacer from Reinhart.
Accufab Marauder Throttle body.
Open up the exhaust.
Retune.
It'll spool up like a ricer.

In the software, there is a function called idle_spark_gain.
It is .84 i think from the factory.
Changing it to a 1.05-1.25 really helps.

Is that in the laptop functions or the actual handheld? I had lidios and didn't touch that part. Was that the same as the part where it says between Xand Y rpms?

Stock throttle body is twin 57mm. The Accufab TB is a step up to twin 62mm, and that's as far as you can go without cutting on the upper intake TB ports. They are twin 63mm ports.

I tried the PHP spacer for about 5000 miles, couldn't find one benefit to it and sent it out to John (TMF) to use as a template for the lower intake for his project ProRauder.

OTOH, the GMS coil connectors and Denso IT-20 plugs are a significant improvement in the seat of the pants throttle response, IMHO.

In general, sluggish response at throttle tip in may also be due to a leak in the air path after the MAF, or a clogged air filter.

Same here, in fact I think it hurt me after the install, but after tuning it seems ok and remained.
a Stallion TC made a nice improvment, the IT-20 plugs seemed to a help a bit, the pullies made a noticable difference and 4.10 gears helped me off the line.
Its a 32V DOHC engine, its biggest downfall is the lack of low end torque. Its just the nature of the beast.

Lower RAR ( will give the illusion of more better throttle response ).

Go to a major rent-a-car outfit and rent whatever's cheapest for a week.

Trust me, when you get back in the MM it'll feel like a rocket!

I'm not entirely kidding. You're car might have a bog to it, but perhaps you're just a speed junkie like the rest of us and continually need a stronger fix!

A few cars ago, I always felt like my SHO Taurus got weak in the spring time. Turns out it wasn't weak, I was just driving the 5.0 again and it would recalibrate my butt-o-meter.

Try Enterprise... they've got some boring stuff. (Oh, stay away from the black and gold Fords at Hertz!)

Push the peddle on the right... It generally helps quite a bit with that whole throttle issue...

bwahahhahahahah... I crack me up....

Accufab throttle body. Little peak HP gain but much better response so it 'feels' better off the line.

You have to drive it for a week for most desirable results. neons and aveos are the best for renewing your marauder feel. Also try driving a F250 for a lil bit and the marauder steering feels BMW crisp.
