Yep, Private track event of course. Lined up with a 2005 SRT/4. we were neck and neck till just after the MM shifted into 2nd then the neon got a bit of a jump and ended up pulling pretty hard toward the end of the 1/4. At the end it was the Neon by just over a car length. He was bone stock! Damn those 4 cylinders!:bows:

Yeppers! To have the SRT designation, it's supposed to be capable of 0-100 and back to zero in the 16's. That's pretty flippin' fast. BB you're the only person on here that gets online before me - You need more sleep!

What was your 1/4 mile time??

Tell him you'll race him from L.A. to New York - with three passengers and all of their accompanying luggage in the car. ;)

His car weighs half as much as ours, and he has a turbo to boot. So what if he edged you out by a car length? Ask him about his car's crash safety ratings. ;)

Considering it is the quickest car you can buy under $20,000 you kept up pretty well. At least it wasn't a Buick...

I'm suprised you only lost by a car length. Some of those dyno 230 at the wheels something like 250 torque... that's almost better than the MM does, and they weigh nothing. And since it was an 05 it has a locking diff. so yeah if anything be happy

I raced one over a bridge and he had a huge upgraded turbo and an massive intercooler... His computer was reprogrammed and I think he had NOS hidden...

I pulled away from him from the start and up the first part of the bridge but he began to gain slowly until we both had to shut down right before he slowly passed me...

I feel as though I would have beaten him if I didn't have two other people in my Marauder....

Yeah those srt 4's are fast. I used to have one all tricked out. They really dont get the respect that they deserve. One of the fastest car that I have driven. Oh and they are safe. Trust me. I ended up on my roof and should have died. But I'm still kicken.

The replacement for Dodge is the Caliper SRT4 that is supposed to have 300 hp and 1/4 mile times around 14.2's. Unbelieveable!!!!

Yeah but I think those are ugly. 300 hp is nice though

I got beat by a SRT4 at the track too. I thought I'd whip him, proved me wrong! That was with 3.55s, a SCT tune, K&N CAI, and under drive pulleys. Oh well. He had three or four car lengths on me.

Tangled with a Neon SRT driven by some juvenile delinquent on I-95 in May while driving up to Brian's Ford Store (royalpita) for a carfixer's spec front-end alignment. He just kept messing with me till I finally got annoyed enough and decided to show him the rear bumper of the MM. Didn't know anything about these cars performance-wise and kinda laughed about this guy in a Neon wanting to play,.... but was surprised at how long it took to make him just a distant spec in the rearview. Told Brian about the encounter once I reached the dealership and he mentioned these things are some kind of pocket sized, bargain basement mopar hotrods. Who knew?

SRT-4's are fun......
I've seen 'em in the rear view quite often.

I guess I don't have anything against the car itself, but some of the people who drive them and think they can smoke anything? I just like to :flamer: them blow them into the weeds :burn:and then ...... :D

There's a little turd with a silver SRT-4 that I see now and then near where I work. I think he's upped the boost on the turbo. It's pretty quick. Raced him once. He was pulling away but let off before I could even get my MM into 3rd gear. I give it another 6 months and that thing will be smoking out the tail pipes.

nope. had one too , forged internals with oil sqrits cooling the undersides off the piston skirts, ran 18 lbs of boost on mine , had a stage 2 and exhaust. these engines are bulletproof . Had 35000 miles on mine when it got stolen.
ran mid 13s on street tires and that was mostly because of crazy wheel spin in first and sometimes second .
It also was pretty amazing on the freeway. Spanked most gts and sti on roll-ons. Miss it sometimes ...

Don't take that quote as I don't like them though. It's a real cool basic hotrod type concept. I approve of that!
I have not seen the Caliber edition, but .....that sounds interesting...

Sounds like you need more MODs, I took one the last time at the track 2x, and both times all he saw was my tail lights and that was with 3.55 rear gears.

Some of those cute little cars can be quite nasty...

That one belongs to a co-worker, Jeff, the guy that got me started on all this mod and racing stuff... the bastiche! He's got 22 more pounds of boost available but has it held back waiting on some module to get it tuned.

I was crusing one night and passed a Gas station where a bunch of ricer guys hang out, They heard my exhaust before they saw me. They must have decided which one out of the 7 ricers was going to try to take me on because as soon as I past them, a Neon SRT4 pulls out and blasts through the gears trying to catch up to me. I manage to hear his blow-off valve and catch a glimpse of his oversize intercooler to know that I had no chance.
We line up at the light and I see him looking at my car and inching forward to egg me on. If it was stock I would have let it rip, but this time I let him tear away from the light and I remained stationary til he was about 100 feet in front.
Sometimes you gotta know when to hold em and when to fold em.
I folded.

the guy couldnt drive, a stock srt4 is good for 13.90 times . a mm needs a lot of mods to equal that imho. Too bad cause i like my mm better.

Yep, they are little rockets. I had one eat on me not too long ago ... I simply turned up my air conditioned seats and the 12 speaker Alpine system and kept cruising. :) It was not a heads up or anything, but I could tell by his acceleration I had no chance. I mean, yeah it's fast and kinda cute, but it's still a Dodge and not something I would want to take an extended trip in. :)

Lately I've had this "guy" in a silver gray Miata later model trying my patience...
waiting for the safe opportunity.
I was thinking of inviting him to Maple Grove on a Friday...

I don't think it's gonna be quite as fast, but I sure am liking the new MazdaSpeed 3. Magazines are giving it good reviews, and my wife needs a good "economy commuter car".

I raced one of the fastest ones around last fall in my stang for some cash. His car ran on 100 octane, methanol injection, 32psi!!!! Wasn't enough for a nitrous sniffing 347 thou.
