Just thinking a little in advance here. Where would be a good place to hide a boost gauge? I was thinking if I got an ash tray in the cup holder and flipped it open only when a race is about to begin would be alright. Maybe somewhere in the sunglass holder. Any suggestions or any place you guys hide it?
Weird question I know.

who are you hiding it from? passer bys or passengers?

If you put it down there, and only use it when you race, you are joking yourself. Which are you going to look at: The Gauge, or what's in front of you? If you are making crazy Boost, unless you are doing a burnout, you want FULL attention on the road ahead of you......not on a gauge.
Just MY thought....

Why would you hide it?

Hide it in the left center vent next to the tach.

Hide it on the a-pillar and tint your windows. At night, turn the dash lights down.

Never hide anything.
At some point in your life you will forget where you put it?

I did the same, except I put a switch in line with the ground for the lights and I can turn them off!
Good at the track....and I don't have the lights glowing in my eyes while driving at night.

I'd prolly put it under the hood if you really want no one to see it.
OR under the trunk carpet liner.

I've heard that sunlight can fade the gauge's face, so I would put it where the sun doesn't shine....:D

I wanna have a place where it can be hidden until I race. Something like I can flip it up or something. The whole reason I don't want anyone to see it is because I want to keep it as much of a sleeper as possibe. In a magizine I saw a 11 second Crown Vic and the gauges were hidden in the cup holders. Put pop them open and you could see them. I couldn't have it under the hood or trunk because I need to see them while I'm driving, but only on command. I don't know if everyone completely gets my question.

If you are that avid about being a sleeper...get steelies with z or r rated and 92% of the world that knows what a marauder is will asume you are a marauder wanna be.

My concern is just the gauge right now. I don't plan on changing anything cosmetic, I just wanna keep the stock image with the hood closed. :D

I'm sure this is Illegal but this would be the ultimate sleeper gauge setup. Pull out your airbag and keep all your gauges under the steering wheel cover then when you race pull the cover off. Or if you just want the boost gauge put it where the mercury logo is and when you race flip the mercury emblem open to expose it. But to be honest if you are only going to have one gauge I think an a/f would be better than a boost gauge. The air vent is a good idea, or if you had the money the most stealth setup would be something like the hud on the corvettes, a digital readout that shows in the bottom corner of the windshield. Not sure if you could do this but if you could get a digital panel or read out that is flat put it in your sun visor keep it up when you drive down when you race.

Yes. It is a weird question.
The gauges need to be strategically placed where a quick glance is all that is needed, without endangering yourself and others while your eyes are not focused straight ahead.
Hell, reportedly you hit a telephone pole in the middle of a parking lot while driving your Blazer not long ago.
Where are your gauges located in your truck?
Mike.

First off I was going in reverse, second thats off topic, but I can look back an laugh at it. All the gauges for the truck on right where they were.... in front of the steering wheel except the tack which in mounted on the dash because I never had one and I wasn't trying to hide it.

Not entirely.
My point is this,...
You, nor anyone else needs to be distracted from business at hand.
The gauges need to be located close to where your eyes should be focused.
Straight ahead.

Thats what I entend to do. Alright let me be as discriptive as possible. I would like to have the gauge hidden from anyone who looks into the car, except when I get in I want to be able to flip it open or something. Thats why I was thinking the cup holder or sunglasses holder. So it looks like nothing until I'll flip it open or take off whatever is hiding it.
I don't want it to be a spot where only I can see it as if it's hidden all the time and there isn't anything I can remove to have a better vision. I wanna hide it when I show it to people and have a way to see it clearly when the time matters.

Buy/pay for the S/C & boost gauge ... & have it shipped down to me.
I can guarentee you ... that you or anyone you might race, won't be able to see the gauge, let alone the supercharger from up there in the windy city.

Buy some Phantom II guages and green LED bulbs from Autometer. Change the guage face on the boost guage out with a face from a more benign guage (like volts, maybe?) Keep the boost guage face available so you can translate needle position. You might have to purchase and extra guage as an 'organ donor', but then no one will ever know.

Boost means you have a supercharger, if you have a supercharger your going to have whine or spool up sound coming and your jig is up. Plus once someone finds out they will tell everyone lol. Dom, fact is buddy don't hide anything because needless to say if you race someone you will prolly end up beating them if your s/c. A-pillar, steering column and 12v plug next to the dummy gauges take your pick where you want to put it. Safety of ous and our vehicles is number 1, put in one of those places.

Dude, I said this earlier, and I will say it again. If you place a gauge, any gauge, in the cupholder area, it WILL BE a distraction! You will have to take not only your eyes off of the road, but rotate your head to be able to see it properly, not to mention the time for your eyes to focus on the needle, and for that to register.
Why put on in at all it you want it hidden on a "normal" basis? You are only gonna see it move into Boost when you are gassin' it, and that's when YOUR EYES need to be focused on the road ahead......not a gauge.
Do whatever you want. You have gotten a lot of good advice here. I hope things work out for ya ;)

Just don't run a boost guage. Do you really need it? Unless you want the effect of popping it out from a hidden spot, the easiest way would be to not run one. Any boost switches for a KB boostapump or anything could be mounted in the engine bay. You could put a boost guage there if you really want for troubleshooting purposes...anyway you'll know when your in boost. :)
Otherwise, I'd put in a broken stereo with a detachable face. Gut it and put 2 or 3 guages behind the detachable face.
Then put a working stereo with rf remote in the glovebox so you still have tunes.
When you race, detach the faceplate to reveal the guages.

Not a bad idea ^. In our cars with the double DIN (almost) slot, you could still have your radio and a 'blank' spot for guages. Further, see Dakota Digital or Cyberdyne for smaller electronic guages. No one will know what they are 'till they light up. Add a switch somewhere.

Yeah you could use a tinted overlay that hides then in normal light, or like a 1-way mirror, put LEDs behind it, flip a switch and it will overpower the tint or 1way mirror to show the guages. :)

Mount gauge inside A/C vent. Still on dash close to line of sight. Flip vent closed if you don't want anyone to notice it. Open vent when you need to see it.
