I would just like to know a few things about a turbo kit for our Marauder.
Is there more than one option because all I can find is PTK. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with them, I just like to see whats out there. Will there be an actual difference in fuel economy with "boost adjust?" Can turbos be upgraded as easily as a supercharger? EX: Pullys, port and polish...

I don't want this to be a battle of the companies please. If you know any of this let me know. Thanks.

There is sooooo much here on the forum about turbos. There are even a copule of members who have one. I believe one is still in the process. ( BTW how's that going?)
I'd highly recommend taking the time to do a search. "Turbo" should do it.

No Vendor here offers Turbos for the Marauder. I know one person, cannot remember who, was having a custom kit fabbed up though. DO A SEARCH!

Turbo, like anything, can be modified and upgraded. You can get bigger units to flow more air. They can be ported to flow more air. They can be clipped to produce faster spool-up.

Boost can be adjusted via a boost controller. Turn it down for daily driving, turn it up for play. They make electronic boost controllers that sit in the car. Just turn a dial, and VOILA! instant boost adjustment. There are also manual boost controllers that live under the hood. But, you gotta get out and change it yourself. Some say the electronics are not a accurate or reliable, but that is just an opinion like any other.

If you are gonna do a Turbo....expect to invest more $$$ in the Kit. Not many are available that are application specific. May have to go a complete customer setup.

Here is the link to Pro Turbo System's Marauder Kit (http://www.proturbokits.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=78). For the price of that kit, you could have your pick of superchargers from ANY of our Vendors here.

Good luck in your decision.

Hey Rich!

The motor is in the car and I have about a day's work before I start the turbo install. Unfortunately I will be in NH for at least 4 more weeks.

The better Elec boost controllers have a zillion features and offer incredibly more control then any manual boost controller, reducing lag and drop off etc.
Changing boost is just a matter of selecting the boost program and selecting your chip tune.

Hey j... I was not gonna tell him who it was... I let that up to you.
4 more weeks... that's cutting MVIV close.

I'd imagine you could run the underdrive pulley set up too.... but would you need it?.... Nah!

Rich,

MVIV does not look doable. I have some serious tuning to fit in when I get the car done and the motor broken in.

I am going to try the UDP and an electric water pump to get her to spin up as fast as possible. I am expecting full boost by 3000 rpm, but I hope to nudge that down a little bit.

In general, for those of you looking at the PTK kit, it includes all the headers and such and bolts right to the stock exhaust (no cats), so you do not have to spend any money on exhaust mods except for some free flowing mufflers.

Thanks KillJoy, but thats the only Turbo I found. I knew of that one prior to starting this form, but thanks again. I have been looking on the internet and thats the only one I could find. I'll try turbo on here and we'll see what happens.

Wasn't there some hybrids out there where the turbine housing was smaller then the compressor housing?

If I had the resources (read: Money) to do what I want, along with a new, built motor, I would be commissioning these guys to do a twin turbo setup on the Marauder (just like they did for the Ford GT):

Given I don't have those kinds of fun, I will stick to the Trilogy plan. I would love to have a turbo to be different and for the pure adjustability, but not enough time and research in the kits of the Marauder.

Not trying to ruffle feathers. I would love to have a turbo kit. Maybe if the car gets retired from daily duty use when power adder time comes I would look more at the turbo. Who knows...

Well this PM dates back to 11/2003:

The group purchase price is $5700 shipped. I will have photos of the kit on the car in a few more days as the shop is closed for the holiday. This kit is custom made for our cars and it looks awesome. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ken"

It was the answer I received after asking the price on his Turbo kit. Members name was Kenny Barr maybe you can pm him for info.
