I don't know guys, but I'm a little out or ideas about my cars little twitchy movements. Heres the history As I stated before. Couple of months ago I raced a mustang light to light 3Xs. Afterwards driving home my car was swaying like I had loose lugs. Come to find out my diff. was toast. I bought an Aburn Pro diff and new Moser 31 spline axles. I took a trip to see my parents in North Carolina 3 days ago. When switching lanes at highway speeds the car seems to sway in the rear. When going in curves to the right the rear keeps a loud whiny noise and I was told the new diff does that until it breaks in, but its Loud. While in NC I jacked the car off the ground and when I pulled on the rim, there is a little play.(Grabbing the spoke pulling out and pushing in) I call my wrench in NY he says there is no adjustment just a C clip that holds the axle and that it should have about a quarter of an inch play. Is this true? Next My air suspension seems to have a mind of its own one side seems to be higher that the other and when people get out the car it stays jacked up and doesn't level off until I start the car again. Sorry to rambling but I love my car but I'm so frustrated now. Do you guys think the problem is Axles, Airbags or bodymounts. Thanks for any help. and again my new diff keeps a loud whining noise when curving to the right.

The endplay you see is normal and within specs, I had it too after installing the Auburn Pro and Moser combination.

Never had any problem with the air suspension, don't know more on that.

Yes, body mounts loosen up, I had mine retorqued, passenger side took more tightening than the driver's side. Don't know how this affects your sway, but a few squeeks and groans disappeared.

Have you checked...

Sway bar links?

Control arms/Watts link?

Tire inflation?

Weak shock on one side?

'Bout all I can think of right now.

Mac is right on the money, here. My guess would be control arms.

Maybe time for an upgrade? Contact the vendor of your choice and swap those stock units out.

Just to add more I have Metco control arms for almost 2 years now and I also have QA1s on all 4s. Also at slow speeds like coasting I hear best I can describe is "squeak" "clunk" and as for the airbags I adjusted the height and that seems fine.

Ummm...Okay. Like other posts of problems here, more 411 rolls in after the initial question earns a few episodes of brainstorming. Nonetheless, you have ruled out other considerations, except tires. Tire tread wear and co-efficient of friction with the pavement, as well as sidewall integrity and PSI need to be confirmed.

For the record, OEM axle play runout is .0075 of movement, and my Auburn Pro/Moser 31 spline build measured out at .0073. Within OEM specs, and unlikely to result in side-to-side sway sufficient to have any effect on control, or, be noticed by the driver. Moreover, if you had a broken C-clip, the axle would come out of the car in a turn, or, by pulling it out with a tug. Safe to say you would know it for sure, if your C-clips were damaged.

How about those sway bar links, look okay?

QA1 or not, all shock can develop problems.

Hope this helps, 'cause there's not a lot left to consider before tearing into internals.

Don't mean to be dumb, but when you say swaybar links we are still talking about on the rearend and not the front axlel correct? and I'll need to check those shocks. Nonetheless Thank you.

Took the car to the wrench and discovered I had a bad axle seal, they replaced it and the whining noise in the diff. has stopped. I'm still hearing that little bumpy or knock like noise when going over bumps. The wrench said everything looks okay. but he only did a visual. Just can't seem to put my hand on what it is. I have the QA1. Metco sways front and back. 31 Spline axle. Auburn PRo. The only thing that I don't have is the Watts Link. I'm going to take it to another Wrench other than the dealer to see if I can find out more.
