Siphon the gas from the tank and drop it.....I can give you instructions from the FIT blower manual if you like!!:help:

I would remove the fuel pump assembly and totally wash the inside out until you smell no gas.....then take it to be brazed or welded up....simple and not costly!!

You WILL need a stud remover to get the old studs out and longer studs for the re-install.....DON'T ASK ME HOW I KNOW!!!:mad2:

A home repair would be a screw with Epoxy sealer.....Will work fine but for peace of mind I would have it welded!!;)

Good Luck!!

Why you wanted those horns, I'll never know. But drop the tank and have a pro fix it.
BTW... you triple posted....

In the "old days" you fixed a screw hole in a gas tank by cleaning around the hole really really good, applying solder around the hole with one of those big 'ol soldering irons, then you soldered a shiney penny over the hole.... No flame, no chance of an explosion. Get it fixed by a professional, most good radiator repair shops can do it.

Yah, and Mary pushed the button on my Darwin-reference reply.:)

I don't know if this is a good thing, but apparently the loudest set of train horns on a "small" vehicle are installed in a Marauder......

Definintely the most annoying Marauder in existance, imo.

What are you talking about?
You dont need longer studs to R&R a tank.

It seems you have explained your mental and mechanical abilities in this thread, with no compunction to reveal your plans to assault the innocent. I hope the judge considers your youth at sentencing.

Zack,

I fought with the tank and the OEM studs for half a day until I installed the longer "break away" studs supplied with my kit and it was a piece of cake!!

How do you stretch the damn straps to get the nuts back on the OEM studs??

I think the horns are a godsend to be utilized against all idiots whom dont pay attention whilst driving thusly assuring your motoring safety. I am finding the need to install a set is becoming more evident everyday....

Al, a good, loud set of horns to use to warn idiot motorists is one thing. But, look at that web site. Those horns are used to scare the pee out of innocent bystanders at supermarkets, bus stops, pedestrians, whatever. From what I see, it's pull up to the unsuspecting victum, give em a blast, then giggle like retards.

The decibel level of those horns can cause pain. Is that what you want to do?

How would you like it if you were showing a property to a client and some asshat drove by your group and subjected everybody to a blast?

Yeah, just get funny one time behind me and PRAY you upgraded your brakes.
1st car thinks it's a laugh and hits the button behind me eats my bumper. And trust me, MY brakes have been upgraded and I WILL make you eat your insurance (and mine).

CV gas tank is 16 gallon, MM is 19 No, I have no idea where you heard that.

The MM uses the same fuel tank as CV. 92-97 panthers have a 20 gallon fuel tank, 98+ have a 19 gallon fuel tank.

the MM and GM and CV fuel tanks are 19 gallons capacity... a few years back the STAP Panthers had 20 gallon tanks, but "to save weight" (from the sales brochures) were reduced to 19 gallons.. My feeling is that it was a tank resizing for safety and clearance issues with the Watts Linkage rear changeover...

Screw installing horns. I'm hardpointing a .50 cal to blow away people who cut me off.

Then I can use it to blow away unsuspecting people at shopping malls. Wait 'til the kids see grandma's head all over the wall. That'll scare the crap out of them! If I miss, I can always run them over.

That'll show 'em. And it's louder than your wimpy train horns.

Hurting people is funny.

Nope. A .22 pistol is about 150 dB.

50 cal is much louder.

The cutoff for the 20 gallon tank was the 1998 model year, (the first year for watts linkage on panthers)

There are two theories behind the lower rating:

1.) Clearance for the watts linkage.

This is somewhat moot, the actual dimensions of the fuel tank between 92-97 and 98+ are almost exactly the same

2.) To reduce EVAP emissions.

Many feel the change was amde to reduce the evaporative emissions of the Panther's then (-02) return style fuel system. Some believe the tank itself is the same, but the max capacity was rated 1 gallon less/fuel cutoff 1 gallon less.

To me, I would think the watts was the main reason. Either that or it was completely coincidental that it happened for the first year for watts link.

Anyways, best of luck with the tank! :P

WOW i never wanna do that again................when marauderjack said longer studs i kinda blew it off..........nowi kno what he is talkin about we dropped the tank and patched it up with some type of epoxy then went to get somethin 2 eat while it dried thinkin we would come back and tighten the 2 bolts for the metal straps and be done in 10 minutes.........well 3 hours later we finally got one back to the original stud........the other one we self tapped elsewhere but still holds very tight
