CA people, please help.

I just sold my 2004 Mercury Marauder to a person in San Jose, CA. The payment in full will be here today via FedEx. The buyer just realized that the car may not pass CA emissions testing. I called Ford Customer Svc., and they confirmed that the car is '49 state legal' and will need help to pass in CA. He could not tell me what needed to be done.

It can't be possible that you guy's can't make out of state auto purchases or people can't move from other states to CA with thier cars, can it?

Please help. I will not force the purchase, but I do want to be rid of this car.

Has anyone made an out of state car legal in CA? A Maurauder?

If your car is stock...there should be no issue for the California emissions. There were not 2 different Marauders made (1 49 state legal and 1 California legal).

Purchased mine from Michigan.

All Marauders are 50 state vehicles. Just look at the sticker under the hood.

Mine passed the dyno smog test without a problem. Nothing is needed on a stock MM to pass the smog test.

Agree with this - if stock, no problem.
However, I have added 4.10's, etc. (all of DR's Level I) but have yet to take a smog test. Will advise when this comes up and how she measured.
