Aloha all,

I just put some new BF goodrich KDW's2, on my MM. Went with the orignal size on the fronts. But the rears BF don't make the new pattern in the orignal size, so I went with 255/45/18. Now my traction control kicks in when i drove it today. I know I can just tun it off. Can I turn off the traction control using my Xcal-2, ???? What should I do.:(

I have the same problem, and Zack tried to shut it off with the SCT tuning. Didn't take, and I haven't heard of another solution.

You should have done 255/55/18s in the back...there would be no codes*.

*this from folks with TC who have done the swap to the KDW2s...mine does not have TC so there was no worry

I'm pretty sure some members here have used 255/55/18's on the rear in the KDW2s with no problem with T/C.

For the life of me ...

I don't know why the hell Ford could'nt have built the "rake" into the rear suspension of the MM ... rather than relying on the larger diameter rear tire to do it.

And the fact that there seems to be no way to fiddle with any of the programming to ignore any major differences in tire height front vs rear was rather silly too.

I'm one of the few that would love to to have the REAR tire size all the way around on my MM.

I wish someone would figure out how to hack into it & make the same size tire work on a MM with traction control.

I would get my OEM rake back by adjusting the arm on the rear suspension.

Not to mention we could then rotate!

First, the traction control program most likely resides in the abs module since it uses the abs sensors and the abs pump. I have to wonder if it was swapped out with a 2003 Crown Vic unit you could then run the same size tires. Anyone with acces to part numbers that can verify that the Marauder and Crown Vic Traction control box are different?

Second, on the crown vic site many members have wired in a toggle switch to keep the TC off when the key is turned without having to press the button each time. The switch is just wired accross the existing button.

255/55/18 is what I am running for rears - no TC issues at all so far about 12000 miles on them. So far looks like they may hold up a little longer than the OEM style. But then again, I havent been drag racing yet.:D

BTW, here's a great thread with lots of info compiled by Breadfan for our compatible tire sizes and alternatives...

I appreciate everybodys responses. I was not sure if the 255/55/18 was a bit too low profile tire, I don't like that look, that is why I went with the 45's. Thank you all.

Hmmm, looks like I can update this:
<table style="width: 758px;" border="1" bordercolor="#000000" cellspacing="1"><tbody><tr style="height: 12.75pt;" height="17"><td style="border: medium none ; padding: 0px; height: 12.75pt; text-align: center; color: windowtext; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; font-family: Arial; vertical-align: bottom; white-space: nowrap;" bordercolor="#000000" bgcolor="#ffffcc" height="17"> Stock</td> <td style="border: medium none ; padding: 0px; text-align: center; color: windowtext; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; font-family: Arial; vertical-align: bottom; white-space: nowrap;" bordercolor="#000000" bgcolor="#ffffcc" width="77"> 255-45-18</td> <td style="border: medium none ; padding: 0px; text-align: center; color: windowtext; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; font-family: Arial; vertical-align: bottom; white-space: nowrap;" bordercolor="#000000" bgcolor="#ffffcc" width="123"> 56.7</td> <td style="border: medium none ; padding: 0px; text-align: center; color: windowtext; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; font-family: Arial; vertical-align: bottom; white-space: nowrap;" bordercolor="#000000" bgcolor="#ffffcc" width="123"> 59.5</td> <td style="border: medium none ; padding: 0px; text-align: center; color: windowtext; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; font-family: Arial; vertical-align: bottom; white-space: nowrap;" bordercolor="#000000" bgcolor="#ffffcc" width="111"> </td> <td style="border: medium none ; padding: 0px; text-align: center; color: windowtext; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; font-family: Arial; vertical-align: bottom; white-space: nowrap;" bordercolor="#000000" bgcolor="#ffffcc"> </td> <td style="border: medium none ; padding: 0px; text-align: center; color: windowtext; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; font-family: Arial; vertical-align: bottom; white-space: nowrap;" bordercolor="#000000" bgcolor="#ffffcc"> Most Likely</td></tr></tbody></table>

To be a "YES" in the last column which is for TC issues...it's hard to tell exaclty when a TC issue will arise, glad to see my guesses weren't too far off.

You mentioned you passed on 255/55/18 becuase the profile might be too low - actually it's going to have a higher sidewall profile. It's a ratio of the sidewall height when compared to the treadwidth.

Since both tires you mentioned (255/45/18 and 255/55/18) have the same treadwidth the 55 series will have larger sidewalls and thus a slightly larger overall diameter.

I thought that 255/55/18 BFG KDW2's might look too beefy on the back sidewall-wise, but after getting a set for myself I'm very happy with the look.

Absolutely...I don't have them myself, but have seen them in person on TAF (Todd's) MM, and they look really good to me. Breadfan, thanks again for all the hard work putting together the matrix. Props to you...:bows:

Has anyone with the traction control thought of swapping out the ABS module from a 03 CV or GM to see if this idea works.

For those of you wondering how KDW2s look on a MM.... stock size on front, 255/55 on rear.
