Hot instrutment panel???

I was getting out of my car the other day and happened to touch the climate control panel when I went to turn off the radio and noticed it was warm, I didn't think much of it at the time.
But today I did the same thing and the panel was really warm amost hot to the touch.
Has anybody else noticed this?

I didn't even have the Heat or A/C on, just the "outside" tempture display.
And it was only a 17 mile trip from work about 25 minutes if that.

Any ideas?
The last thing I need is spontaneous combustion.

Mine does the same thing. I believe it's the light(s) for the readout causing the heat. I don't worry about mine.

Did you have the exterior lamps on?

It is common/normal. All of our Ford EATCs do it.

If there were white LED bulb replacements avail, that would solve the issue.

Seems to be normal operation, mine has always been pretty warm to the touch.

Could have fried an egg on the one in the Jag I had....

Never noticed it in my Marauder. We'll see

Seem to have been ignored.

If the lights are one, the instrument backlighting is on. The EATC uses standard incandescent bulbs mounted close to the face for illumination. Consequently this heats up the face.

The unit should heat up very little if the head or parking lamps are off, though.

I notice this on mine in Vent mode. No AC or heat active.
