Anyone ever had the problem where you start the car and no sound comes from the radio?
Here's the situation:
Drove to work this morning and everything worked fine. Car sat all day like usual. Go out after work, start the car, and no sound coming out. Check the radio and it is on, but on the in-dash CD, which I was not listening to on the way to work. Check clock at sitting at 12:01 (this was at about 4:15pm). Set clock. Check bass/treble settings and they are reset. Set those back. Check FM1 and FM2 and pre-set stations are still set on both. Steering wheel buttons and buttons on radio all work fine to move around, but no sound from any source (radion, in-dash CD, or CD changer). Turned volume all the way up and down and nothing.
So, drive home this way, but left radion on in case it decided to work - nothing. Get home, turn car off and then back on just to check and the radion works fine. Did that a couple times and it came on fine each time with sound.
Any ideas or thoughts on this?

The radio does that if the power was interupted (ie disconnecting the battery for only a short period).
I assume that your battery was not disconnected, though, so it may be an issue with a loose connection on the radio harness, fuse and/or fuse block, or possibly the radio itself. The radio Hot at all times power feed is what supplies the power for the memory feature, it must have an intermittant interuption. Even just a second of power loss on this circuit resets the radio state, but still keeps presets.
The radio is easy to pull, grab yourself a pair of DIN removal tools for like $3, pull it and make sure the conencotrs are seated firmly and none of the wires appear 'loose' in the connector. Another easy check is to make sure the fuse is not loose feeling as to provide a intermittant conenction.

Mine did this a few weeks ago.....radio "SPOOKS" I guess since it began to work fine and hasn't done it again??
My air suspension also appears to be OK now so maybe the "SPOOKS" moved from there to my radio??
I hope this car doesn't develop a lot of electrical problems over time as I plan to keep it!!:D

Where can one pick up the DIN removal tools? I know that the Ford radios can be very easy to remove witht he right tools to slip in the holes on each side.

You can get the removal tool if you want, but the problem you describe is something that happens on rare occasions (it did on my car a couple of times). The usual fix is to "reset" by turning off the car and restarting. I wouldn't pull the head unit unless this is something that happens on a regular basis.

This was the first time it has ever happened. And everything seemed normal with it except for no noise. Guess I might chalk it up to "domestic" issues. Although I would rather deal with this once than a life time of electrical issues if I owned a Britsh made car (although my British made motorcycle never gave me any problems).;)

You can get them at your FLAPS or Walmart. Or you can use four 8 or 10 penny nails.
