I couldn't find anyone that made the 1/18 scale MM. So I decided to make my own.
What do you guys think..

It looks very good. Nice base too. I like the lettering. I picked up a 1/18 model from a guy selling them on E-Bay. The Blue is not an exact match for the Bluerauder; but it is close.

Looks like you used a black Police Interceptor die cast, and put SVT Cobra wheels on it. Am I right?

Looks good BTW :)

Thats it...Black Police Interceptor and SVT Cobra Wheels. I painted the silver around the doors and modified the cornering lights.

No its not for sale and there is no group buy. This is my personel model I built for myself because Ertil does not make one.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Yeah very nice you beat me to it. I have the black crown vic and I have the Mustang cobra for a doner. I am still going to do mine when I have time. I am putting the supercharged cobra motor in mine since its all there. Good job dude.

This would be awesome if someone knew the right person to have a 1/18 scale MM made, all four colors too. Even if its just for our club, it would be cool. Anyone have any leads?

I am debating on building a few of these for people here only. I have to do the first one like I mentioned above, but it could be a cool show piece. The problem is first they would all be black (I don't want to paint them). next is getting them, I found some but the black CV is less avaliable. Also cost would be up, have to buy two cars to make one plus lots of time to build. The things I can change is add 4V motor, cobra wheels and exhaust. The grill and other details would not be done. It might not be worth doing if they are not correct...thinking...:rolleyes :

The black CV is starting to be less available. Also you have to locate a 2003 Mustang SVT for the wheels. You can use a CV Police Interceptor but you would need to fill the holes and paint it. To much work...

Black 04, sorry, I'm a little slow...love the work you did...
where did you get the model you started with and who manufactures it?
I just reworked a "Road Signature" Die Cast 1964 Mercury Marauder...
It came White with a light blue interior...looked kind of sheepish...:(
So I took it all apart, repainted the blue engine to the correct red...
repainted the interior to black... and now it looks much better..:D
Thanks, Architect

I purchased the model from a swap meet in Englishtown NJ. The name of the model is Motor Max.

Maybe we can do a poll to see how many people want one and contact a 1/18 scale model vendor and say "hey we have this amount of people who would buy this product if you made it, what can you do for us?" If I had the extra resources I would do it. I think it would be a great collectors item.

If your lookin for a good spot to buy the 1/18th scale CV, check out policecarmodels.com, they may have what you need. I do scale models form time 2 time in an attempt to relive youger days. This place is kind of cool and I havent had any probs ordering in the past. They have all kinds of goodies for modelers and they do sell by the case. Hope it helps the interested, Reddog.

Black 04,

Glad to report i bought a mid 90s Mustang III project car as a donor for the wheels made by Meisto this afternoon and successfully dismantled the wheels to be put back on the Crown Vic. It wasn't easy as i had to drill a plastic bore inside each wheel to set them free. Used plumbers glue and they are now on the Vic axles rolling and turning perfectly. :)

The good thing about the Mustang III is that the rear tires are bigger than the front as in our genuine 1/1 scale car. The mag shape is little less alike our car thought. Since i missed last week attempt with a SVT2003, i'm up to 47 CDN $ X 2= 94$ for four 1 1/2 inches wheels diameter (yes, up here diecast are expensive). Modding die casts appear as costly as the real thing!

Now, the paint is next. I won't try anymore details as filing the cops lights holes in the roof and the pen light on each front door is enough for my taste.

I'm doin' this in secret since I told my son i drop and break the Vic and trashed it in anger. I promised that i will buy him another one for the Holidays. Can wait to see his face next Christmas !!

My CV was all black with no police lights on it. Send us some pictures when your done, I'm curious to see how the wheels look on it.

Did you do anything to the nose??

I didn't choose the easiest Crown Vic to start with as it was two tone black and white with light on top and doors. Filing the holes and repainting is giving me lot of problems, parts being so small to sand and paint. Hope i'll find a way. About the nose, I'll just paint the grille black for now as i have my hands full at this little project ...!

I changed my mind about the engine and cannibalized the Mustang III to get the 4 valves heads and Eaton blower. After some dremeling, here is a pic of the new aluminum block and supercharger. At least, it won't be Crown Vic under the hood. The view from bottom of the frame show the nice front to back wheel size difference as in our car. The side view of the bottom part show the mag wheel pattern: not ideal but better than the 16" with hubcap it had before.

Black 04,

The mini project is done. Below some pics. The backspacing of the MustangIII wheels is different and they are sticking out more on the Crown Vic frame for a not expected meanier look. Great. I dremeled off some other parts in the engine bay to fit the 4 valves heads and Eaton blower.

The paint is not 100% as i had quality problems with tiny dust particles in the air even with extra cleaning. I had to spray 4 coats of black to cover this and the holes in the roof and doors and the white painted body panels. Sanded each of them with 500 grit paper (probably the cause of the particles). I cooked them in the oven for faster turnaround times at 150F as i wanted to finish this before the end of the week end. The painting was real pain as i had to cover front, rear and the 2 back door window with masking tape outside and inside. Luckily no fume found its way in the glass. The front grille originally chromed had been painted black to cover the CrownVic look a bit.

Now, all i have to do is wrap the thing off in gift paper for next Christmas. My son should be happy with the results !:D

Snowbird,
Looks real good, you did a real nice job painting the doors and the light holes. To bad you couldn't find the all black CV it... would have saved you alot of time.
One thing you need to do, you need to paint the cornering lights. I used a chrome marker pen and some black paint to look like my MM.

Great job:up:

Chrome marker pin is a good idea...I've been puzzling over how to handle side lights and the grill...
I'm trying to attach some pics, but haven't got the hang of it yet...
Let me see if I can make this work...
I've cut and installed the fog lights, console with floor shifter, gauges below radio...oh yea, mine has the flint interior too...

I put the mustang cobra 4v engine in mine with the chrome wheels and the mustane chrome tailpipes. it looks good but the engine is not that good for detail. I am using the cobra spoiler to make the MM one but have to cut it down yet. Not bad but I would still like to see a company make a correct one.:D

Motor Max (the people who make the CV model) were having some car model suggestions not too long ago, you could send a email to them voicing you concerns, that and you can try AutoArt, but they haven't done anything to their CV's in a long time (a real long time)

Ok....if this works I have attached four photos of my Marauder Model...
It started as a die cast black Service (police) vehicle...
I have added the flint interior with floor shift, console, and gauges...
If you look real close you can see that the radio is set on FM 95.3...:D
Mustang wheels with disc brakes...
Fog lights...
Megs...
I'm still working on ideas for the grill, rear spoiler and adding the Mustang engine without the super charger...
I hope these pics aren't fuzzy...if they are I'll try again...

This company does custom police interceptors in 1/18th scale. From your push bumper to your teardrop lights.
A all black interceptor shouldnt be hard to do at all.

There was a CVN member that did a LX moulding mod for an NCHP model...*searching*

AH HA! found it! LINKLY (http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB21&Number=1078330&Forum=UBB21&Words=NCHP&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=1year&Main=1078330&Search=true#Post1078330)

Other than that, looks sharp. I love the look of the Marauder corners 1000% more than the CV crap...194 series bulbs, give me a break!
