Rim Widening Again

I know this question has been asked, however reading the threads I haven't really seen a clear answer. The Question is and guys and please don't kill me but For us guys who have the QA1 setup can we widen our wheels to 10 inches? The reason I want the 10 inch rim is because I want to safely run the 305's and I know guys on this board who are against them on the 9 1/2 rims. There are some here who believe the 295's are the max for the 9 1/2.

Nitto, the tire I am assuming you are refering to recommends a 9.5 -11 inch rim. A 9.5 - No reason to go above that with an 18" wheel.

Ive had the 305's on 9.5" wheels for almost 2 years, and 4,000 miles. No problems.

As Nut has said here , many do have alot of clearance---but then again--alot do not--like mine---its the way the car was made "on the line"......regardless, here is some 411:

1. 18x9.5 will take 295's, and 305's....but check clearance of the shocks.
2. If shocks are being rubbed with the 295'a set up-- you can increase the air
pressure to clear th shocks-OR
3. If still rubbing, installed thinner width shocks like QA1's.. This will provide
enough cleareance for both sizes, without using spacers--which is HIGHLY
NOT RECOMMENDED>
4. A different approach for larger width tires like the 305s' is to purchase the Mustang Bullet wheels which are 18x10 which will clear the OEM shocks very well with the 305's.

SO...it depends on the individual car...although our MM's look alike,, they are each a bit different in ways as described.....some have great clearance from the OEM shocks-some don't......... hope this helps............Tom
