Hey guys. On my LSE i have the Goodyear LS's that came from the factory with the HPP setup. These tires for me provide SUPERB HANDLING in DRY weather. Although, on wet roads these tires leave aLOT to be desired. In snow, theyre beyond horrible. Last year when we had snow i had to drive my 82' which has Goodyear integritys. Believe it or not the intergritys handle like snow tires! Nothing stopped me in the snow (unless the car got wedged into snow that was too high for it).

As i was saying...the goodyear LS tires are excellent for dry weather with an extremely SOILD SIDEWALL. Even with 20 lbs of pressure (some a-hole let the air out of my tires) the sidewall was even still solid.

I was wondering if you guys have come across any tires that have solid sidewalls for cornering yet perform well in all-weather conditions...

Thanks in advance,
lenny

I had goodyear Integrity's on the windstar and switched to
the Goodyear Assurance Triple tread and found the traction
better than the integrities in just about all situations..
The sidewalls are not as stiff as the LS's but still happy
with the overall performance--now I just have to fix the
rest of the Van..

On the high side of expensive, check out the Pirelli P-Zero Assymetrico and Directionales. I have a set on my #3 MM and used them on the #1x without fail. Strongest sidewall on the street, never once folded under in hard cornering, and I mean hard cornering.

My bro has the Goodyear Triple Assurance tires on his GM. Switched to them from the Michelins after hating the way the car drove in the rain. He said that he'll never run a different tire from this point on. I have driven his car as well, and can back up how well they work. So if you're looking for a good all season tire, that's my vote.

I appreciate the info. one of my main concerns are handling. how well does it hold up to cornering? If you dont know, thats ok. But, im leaning towards (if i must) the RS-A goodyears, the tripple assurance, or if worse comes to worse ...another set of goodyear LS's.

Completly different for which car? As Mac stated you can go with Pirelli P-Zero Assymetrico and Directionales. I have looked at Goodyear eagle 1. I drive an '03 300A and have 245/50 on all 4 wheels. Big impovement over stock. Some do not like the same size front and rear because you loose the stance. I also did control arms and sway bars:) '03 300B cars have traction control as do all '04.

I drive a 2002 Marquis LSE. The OEM specs are called for Goodyear LS's. Thats what i currently have. I would purchased them again, but i dont like the snow performance...My 1982 Mark has a set of Goodyear Integritys (which are AMAZZZING in the snow). Im not so fond of the Integritys on cornering. You can feel the sidewall flex.

A few of people are very fond of the Goodyear Tripple assurance.

I don't have any all season tires to recommend but I really didn't like the OEM tires. They were horrible in the wet and the snow.

I've used my summer tires during the winter these past 3 years. Not the best thing in the snow but I don't need to drive on unplowed roads. This year I intend to get winter tires.

I had a set of Eagle LS in your size on my 1992 GM. One of them would not keep balance and blew out, 2 seperated and the best of the bunch had tire pull. I would got for Michelins that next time around.

I do experience tire pull, but no sign of radial separation yet *appx 40k*

I suppose its hit or miss with these tires.

I sure wish I knew your name so that I wouldn't have to refer to you as LSE DUDE....;)

I had a 92 vic with Michelin 'somethings'....the car was recently sold therefore I cannot comment as to the style name. I know...my post is useless........but it gets better.

Those tires were good in rain and dry, but terrible in snow.

As Brad said, and I realize this isn't what you were looking for. If finances allowed a second set for winter, the Blizzack was wonderfull. I use them on all my cars, including my former 'beater vic'.
The one thing to note however, the Blizzack WS series is sooo soft and grippy...they will at times make the vehicle feel as if it were 'floating' at highway speeds. It drove me crazy. Literally.:P There is nothing 'unsafe' about them, it just makes some drivers very uneasy.
If you are able to find a summer tire you like, and can afford to have a winter tire as well, I HIGHLY reccomend the YS series Blizzack. No float, and rated well over your governor.;)

Lenny,

I know this is NOT what you want to hear but I am going to say it anyway.

In the Mid Atlantic region, you are NOT going to find an all year tire that does well with everything.
The temperature extremes are too much for ONE tire to handle.
Even the Triple Assurance can't handle New York...

I run the stock BF Goodrich during the summer months on 40 psi at all 4 corners.
The car rides like it is on rails, literally.

In the winter, as you can see in my signature, I run a set of 16" wheels
with Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow Winter tires.
These tires are made from a Silicon Compound.
They remain plyable enough for the extreme cold temperatures,
and give EXCELLENT wet and snow traction for our Marauder.
They also do not make any excessive noice like most Winter tires do.

You can probably use them on your GM LSE without any notice in performance.
I purchased them from Tirerack, mounted, balanced, and ready to install.
They go on in November and come off in March/April.
Each year I've put about 10,000 miles on them over the winter months.
They will SAVE your All Seasons / Summer tire wear during the winter.

If you want a set of Winter tires, BUY THEM NOW.
If you wait for the Winter, you will pay the Winter Season prices.
Buy them BEFORE winter starts and you will save yourself $$$.

My daily driver is a 95 GM HPP with no mods. It came with Michelins something Pilot XGT H4 (I forget) that lasted 65k plus miles. I put on the Goodyear RS-A's which lasted 55k plus until I tired of them and put on a set of the TrippleTred Goodyears.
I don't get into too much snow but we have plenty of water in the Pacific NW. I believe the RS-A's are used on a lot of the CV PI's around here. They were fine the first half of thread life but got noisy and looser for the second half. I really liked the TripTreds after replacing some Goodyear Eagle GT plus II's (or something) on my wifes 2000 Mystigue so I put them on the 95 as well.
They are quieter in all conditions, handle firm enough and track great in the wet freeway ruts created by the studded tires allowed in the winter out here. After they were half worn, the RS-A's were down right scary at 70 mph on a wet road with stud ruts where the TripTreds tracked true without hydroplaning (still have to watch for the other cars though). I'm totally comfortable and happy with them for the daily grind.
I don't drive the MM much in the soup so can't address the stock BFG's or triptreds in snow or extreme performance handling. I would defer to the others comments and experience for that kind of service.
Just my 2 cents worth. Hope it's usefull.

Totally unrelated - can you post a larger pic of your hood when closed? I wanna see the clearance issues with the 5.4 and S/C.

Just curious. Or email is fine too. Thanks!:Offtopic: :hijack:

I tired GoodYear Assurance TripleTred on my '97 Grand Marquis HPP....
they were loud and pulled to the left all the time, even after rotation
and computer balancing. Will never buy a "directional" tire again!
Switched to GoodYear Assurance ComforTred...
great tires, smooth, quiet, with plenty of performance built in.
Same tires which come stock on the New Chrysler 300C Hemi.

Gotta Love It!:coolman:
