Dennis, can this mod be purchaced, without complete level I or II trans upgrade?
Anything different on 2004's that would make this unnecessary.
I looked on your site and through old Threads / posts.
In response to LILALLEYCATs' thread
2 brass fittings and a brake line is all its composed of.
Do not drill the hole in the tailshaft bushing more than .040"

looks pretty straight foward.
If thier is a piece availble, already made up .
I'd prefer that, Especially cause, trying to cut the braided tubing is a PIta.

It has improved since you last did it Zack, the kit comes with every thing the taps the drill bits a new bushing and a new tail shaft seal, and a braided steel line.

What exactly does this mod do?

What exactly does this mod do?Keeps the tailshaft assembly and seals lubricated with a pressurized supply of tranny fluid.

Is this mod pretty easy to do with the tranny in the car? And I assume the drive shaft needs to be removed to do it?

The modification to the tailshaft is whats difficult and time consuming.
If Dennis had an exchange program for this mod, it would become much more feasible.

I can do that

Then the parts would come pre machined?

Dennis, if you'll do the tailshaft-exchange thing, I'm VERY interested in this mod.

I can do the rear tail shaft, mod here and you would have to send me your old tail shaft.

Does the Transmission need to be removed from the car, or can it be performed while still in place?
KillJoy
Just the driveshaft needs to be removed.

No the cross member has to come down and the drive shaft removed

Do you have to remove the tailshaft too?

Why is this necessary since Ford somehow left it off??
I have had six CV's and now the Marauder with total miles run on all of them approaching 800,000 and never had so much as a wimper or a leak from any of them....But I never raced them either!!:shake:
If racing is the killer then I understand somewhat but doesn't a hard launch run fluid back to that area anyway.....HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS MOD!!??:help:

I believe it's for added protection when running at high speed for a continous time.

Well Jack Ford speed limits the car, to 128 mph so when we remove the limit the cars run 150 plus, the rear tail shaft bushing is lubricated only by splash, when you take off it throws fluid to the rear tail shaft then it drains back, at high speeds there is very little fluid back there and it can burn the bushing out the FLC gives, a constant supply of fluid to the tail shaft bushing, I just did 18 cars for the GA Police and 40 for for the Kentucky State Police.

An exchange program for an already modified tailshaft would be cool. Wouldn't have to be worried about drilling to far that way. Charge a core deposit that you get back when you return your stock one....

I looked on your website, Dennis, but could not find the kit. What is it's price?

The kit is 110.00, if I include the rear tail shaft housing the total would 199.00 PS and if you fail to send me your old tail shaft, once you recieve mine then your credit card will be billed for replacment.
I will add this to my web site this week.

Thanks for the explanation Dennis.....Extended periods of over 128 MPH would not only cause problems with the transmission tail shaft......It would also cause problems with MY TAIL!!!
I guess it goes hand in hand with the MMX driveshaft for peace of mind though!!
Unless I go to the track mine will only see an occasional blast above 80 and even then for just a few seconds??
I may do these mods after the ones I see as necessary......BRAKES.....BRAK ES....and BRAKES!!!:burnout:

Dennis, this is excellent news! Having a tailshaft that is already machined by someone who has done the work before is a big plus for me. Please put me down for one of those kits as soon as they are available.

Damn! (Just brushing up on old threads here.) I just had the tranny completely out and rebuilt, cooling mod and PI 3000 installed. This would have been the perfect time to do this. :(
Should have planned ahead. At the same time the highest I've had it is 125 and that for about 30 seconds before dropping back down to 100.
I'll talk to my mechanic about the labor involved. He is fast and fair, but I'll probably lose a couple of hours labor cost by not having it done at the same time as the rebuild. Dumb.
Oh, well, nothing that $ can't fix. Live and learn...

OK, now that winter's over (he says with crossed fingers...) the forced tailshaft lube kit was installed today. I may not NEED it, but like Marauderjack said^ it's good peace of mind, especially with the blower, 4.10s, and a lot of highway driving.
Thanks for another great mod for our cars, Dennis!
