I was wondering if anyone out there in Marauderland has any information, views, experience etc. on the electronic rust protection systems that are on the market, they plug into the battery, and are supposed to stop your vehicle from the dreaded rust. I am thinking about putting one on my MM, since we are living in the rust belt.

I don't believe the device , will offer you any protection against corrosion.
I believe you will find may law suites, regarding companies that offer a device like that.

Living in the South...you are hardpressed to find anyone that does any sufficient "undercoating". I spent a few hours a week or two ago trying to help out a new, fellow Marauder owner that came into the shop who'd just purchased his through CarMax and Brian (Roylpita) was kind enough to run the vin and let us know it was a Yankee-car...this thing had a LOT of surface rust on it. I called new car dealerships, detail shops, etc. and couldn't find anyone that would pressure wash him off and coat his underside to stop what had already begun.

In my search...I came across some of these supposed 'electronic rust-proofing" and in doing some reading...I came to the conclusion that it should be sold right next to The Tornado, The RAZOR and all the other 'snake-oil" products.

Just my opinion for ya....

There was a thread on the effectiveness of these systems, a few weeks back on CVN.

General consensus; No.

My MM has been rust proofed from day one. The oil spray on the underside of the car picks up a good deal of dirt, as much as a quarter of an inch thick, at which point it starts to hold moisture and promote corosion.
This year after some research i decided to go the snake oil route to see what happens. These MM could be worth some money one day.

I'm gonna try the snake oil route also Rusty, damn things are expensive, I picked one up today "on sale" at Canadian Tire for $200. Now I have to fiqure out where to mount it. At least I get another flashing red light! Sure hope this thing works

My car was undercoated at the dealer before I picked it up. Even with it my car has never seen snow and salt. Hopefully it never will.
