I was wondering if any of the SSM members would be interested in holding a monthly poker night? Personally, I enjoy a good game of Hold'em and think it would be fun to get a local group together. We could have $5 or $10 buy-in's and play for a few hours one night every few weeks or every month.
What do you guys think?

Well we could all go to the hard rock and play. That would be fun. They do have Texas Hold 'em don't they? We could all eat at the Hooters too and they got a huge Irish Pub there as well.

Well, we could. But I was thinking of something more private; not the casino atmosphere.

I'll host a night. But I'll have to go out and buy the chips, unless someone else has them.

This does sound tempting.

I can supply the chips and cards, I have a nice set. All we need are players and someone to host the event every now and then :)

We can have a poker night at my place by the pool. I have chairs, and a few round tables we could use.

To expand on this....anyone ever consider getting a private, real $$$, game on Party Poker?

I've thought about it, but online is a whole different world. You can't see or feel the people. Additionally, unless you know for certain who you're playing with, you could be playing against a table of all the same guy with different logins and a fancy IP network.

If you know how to play five card poker then you'll get Texas Holdem very quickly.

I think it would take a lot of effort for a guy to pretend to be three or four or more different individuals. I have no problem with a private game but I still think a meet at the Hard Rock would be fun and their parking is free. I have no problem going broke playing slots either. I once won $60 at the Monopoly slot machine.

My brother and I play a tournament of Texas Holdem every week. Buy in is about the same as you are proposing. In fact, we played every Wednesday for the last 4 or 5 months.
Only thing is we use it as an excuse to just hang out. We smoke cigars and drink beer so it's not all about the money.
If you guys are not offended by the smoke we would love to come.
By the way, my brother just received his 2003 Marauder on Monday and will be joining the SSM crew ASAP.
