For those of you that have dynomat insolation in your car, any input or suggestions on the following:
1) Best source for the product at reasonable price
2) Best parts of the car to do (trunk, firewall, floor, doors, etc)
3) Worth the time and money invested
4) How hard is it to install yourself?
I know it would probably be best to do all of #2 above, but any areas you would start with specifically? How much material would you need to do trunk, floor, firewall, and doors? And are you pleased with the results? Also, how much weight would you say you added?

1. Bought 2 bulk packs online, audiotoys.com? You'll need about half of a third box to do the whole car.
2. I'd do the angled firewall down under the front seat, the rear psgr floor and under seat. The rear seatback and package tray. You could also do the trunk, as a last bit. But I foudn the trunk organizer muffled the sounds just as good. Doors, I did them as well, mostly for road noise. Aside from wind, my car feels like a bank vault. If I had stock exhuast, I'd probably fall asleep at the wheel.
3. I think so, but I didn't go to crazy.
4. Not too bad as long as its warm, the dynamat, you can use a heat gun and roll it, it was hot enough (FL summer).
I believe two bulk packs of the extreme added about 43 pounds. So I take the full size spare out now to be equal.

That doesn't sound to bad weight wise. Then again you have the Trilogy to more than make up for it... ;)
I don't think it is www.audiotoys.com. That website is for professions mixing boards...

Good info, thanks.
I am looking to upgrade the sound system in the near future. This stuff is on the list.

Bought mine on Ebay. 3 bulk packages. Interior guy at Team Ford in Marietta installed it for me. Looked like a fair amount of work. Took about 2 1/2 boxes, weight about 50 pounds. Floors, trunk. Definitely made it quieter. Good luck.:)

I did my entire car, everything. Used 3 bulk packs and a trunk kit. Also spray-foamed the body panel cavities. It was a timely process, about 2 full days. It eliminated a lot of the road noise, especially on the highway. However, it did not drastically reduce the exhaust noise, as I had hoped it would.
I'd probably do it over again.

Dynomat Xtreme FTW, I haven't done any yet to the MM but I will as soon as it gets nice hot weather again. Makes it a breeze to do just lay the sheets out on some hot blacktop, cut, apply to surface and roll on. Places to put it on, kick panel area/floorboard, front doors, rear doors, 2 18"x18" sheets behind the rear seats, rear decklid (topside, underneth trim panel) and underneth any and all trim carpet piece in the trunk. Thats how I used to do CV & GM when I installed the dynomat, I was always went for the clean stealth so you could always saw yeah its totally stock and no one would no otherwise unless they started pulling things off and apart.

I bought it through HERE (http://www.cardomain.com/item/DYN10455) (although it was about $50 cheaper per box then). Best thing you can do if you want loud on the outside and quiet inside. Big Yeller got the same treatment...complete cabin, doors, headliner, etc. Every car I have from now on will have it. Oh...and with the doors done...when you close them...it sounds like a vault closing (or at least like a Mercedes door, no rattles, etc.)

When you are doing the doors, what part do you do? Do you do the frame part right behind the inside door panel or do you try to go through that and do it on the inside of the outer door skin?
I also plan on doing the POR-15 treatment to the under side of the car. Think this will help with soudn dampening too?

I had ALL of it done...outerskin (from the inside of course :P ) behind the vapor barrier (you'll see that when you take out the door panel) and especially around the speakers.

cool. I did the mazda and you really can't hear it outside the car. Open the door and it's quality. If I could get the mazda to stop rattling interior pieces i'd be good. One day the MM will get the mazdas subs.

Hell - i Always thought my car was unusually loud. Road noise is a real pain in the ass. Wind noise - dont even go there...Sounds like a worthy investment. How much should i expect to drop for this upgrade??? (considering i dont do it myself)

Eric, how soon you planning on the Dynomat project? Maybe we could get a few of us here in Iowa to go together and buy in bulk, then meet up and do a group install. Would go a lot faster (not) and have some fun!

Unfortunately not as soon as I had hoped do to a up coming attempt to sell our house and get a divorce....:(
That is going to put about everything on hold for me for a while. Just need to get those 2 things taken care of, find a new place to live (that has a garage), and pick up a daily driver. Then I won't have to worry about down time with the car.
I am thinking that when I do this I will pull pretty much the whole interior out of the car and put the Dynomat in. Figure make it a long weekend project in the hot Iowa summer so the material is more pliable to work with, too.

Well, I can't fix the divorce thing and I pretty much suck at selling houses (lost mine too..), but we can do a springtime dynomat session. I'll not be driving mine during the winter so I can wait.
I'll ask Jason and Andrew if they are interested.
Chin up buddy, life is too short...
