PS: Let's only have those of you who ARE going reply to this post. Thanks!

LML,
Carlisle, PA show & meet is Oct 1-5 and the BIG Hershey AACA meet is Oct 8-11. For the 8-11 meet there will be NO motel rooms for a 30 mile radius.

OK folks - 5 have voted. 18 had expressed interest in Hershey. Let's keep this going. I haven't given up yet. I'm willing to do as much as I can to organise it. Thanks MikeENH for letting us know about Carlisle & AACA - a big help.

Once the date is settled, we'll need honest commitments to get a head count. Plenty of things to do there. It should be a fun time.

I agree it not over till its over? Anyway I'll check with my Hershey friends and see what going on with dates?
Will report back very soon.....

I voted for Hershey, and still planning on attending PA, if anything.
Any date in October is fine, therefore I haven't voted on this Poll.

Not sure on what Mikeenh is saying, are both weekends " Oct 1-5 and the BIG Hershey AACA meet is Oct 8-11" out of question?

If so, let's plan on the next available Oct. 10-17.

Big Dog Jim, are you still in on this ?

That's scary,

BigDog must have read my mind. He posted his answer, before I got to post my question!!

I voted for October 10-12, but my arm could be twisted and I would go on October 17 - 19. Either way, this brackets my birthday and you all will have to buy me an ice cream cone!

I am still working on going to Texas too (one last work hurdle to resolve).

LincMercLover
05-28-2003, 11:03 AM
I CAN make the poll a multiple choice, in case some would want to vote for two dates?

Murader03
05-28-2003, 11:14 AM
I voted for 10/17-10/19. I don't have my work scedule nor do I have the vacation schedule for October with me as I'm out of the office this week. If the date firms up prior to, sa the 15th of September, then I can make arrangements.....

Just voted for Oct. 17-19.

Count me in. Anyone wanting to list the (8) who started and start working on details via PM? Or, too early (for details)? Or, keep all info on this thread? Don't know, just throwing things out there, which are going thru my mind.

So far from this thread I see:

This doesn't account for 8 votes, but it's a start.

I believe, that type of voting applies to Florida. Oh no wait, they just keep recounting them. Too close to call!

OK, back on subject.

OK, so we know who the 8 "voters" for PA on Oct. 17-19 are. What's next?

I think we need a few more people to sign up for that date, before we make more detailed plans.

Awe shoot, I blew it!

I hate these poll thingys...I voted for 3-5 only to see that the popular vote is 17-19. What else can I screw up, eh? I should have read the posts to see more first. Can I vote again? 17-19? Please?

To be honest here, I'm on vacation during these dates anyway, the specific weekend is not important to me, any date works.

What I really want, is for this weekend to happen, to get scheduled and for as many MM owners to show as possible, for it all to work for us.

I want to meet as many real MM owners in Hershey as possible, so, any date is cool with me, K?

Y'all know I'm going to the Texas meet, but to me, that's a big show. Logan says that the crowd last year was 210K, and I am sure I'll feel like just another piece of MM meat strolling through a crowd of Ford lovers. Sure, this is all fun, I love hot dogs, beer, crowds, carnivals, pins, baseball caps....A great time it will be. However, something will be missing and I think I know what that something is missing.

I may get to meet up with a whole bunch of MM owners, but we won't really have time to get to know each other very well. The meet itself will be a distraction to us, and distract us from meeting each other as friends, as people. It will happen like it happened at the GLD races...Here's a snip from the "record this" track in my brain, of that day.

"yeah, hi(race), how are ya(race), nice(race) car, yeah, sure(race)it's a 300A(race), yeah, hi(race), I'm Mac, yeah(race) nice to meet ya(race), gotta run(race), yeah, bye, gotta go, yeah, see ya, bye.

What I expect of the Texas meet is to miss out getting a better handle on what "bone daddy" means, and the taste of a true Texas "BBQ Brisket" because the MM owner who has the time and desire to show me all that, will be busy with the show too.

I'm not a Texan, and one weekend in Ennis will not make me a Texan. Bear with me on this, please? I hope to help you understand shortly.

A cop brain is a sick brain, perverted, we think differently about stuff. Everything we absorb is taken in and evaluated in terms we later spit out as "manner, method, motive." Knowing answers to all three suggests a reasonable conclusion to an eternal question of "why?" but, without anysureness. Applying this theory to MM owners trying to meet up with each other, and it all can still work.

Our "manner" is a meet, a physical "face to face" get together, an eyeball. Those who show up are real, those who do not, are not.

Our "method" is travel, over the road, over highways, pick a spot on a map, and get your butt there on time, and driving an MM too.

Our "motive" is to climb out from behind the wheel of one of the greatest American automobiles ever built with a smile on our face, and extend to another similar smile, a hand shake that says friend and gets a likewise hand shake in return. Hopefully, this will mean that another MM owner likewise drove highways, just to extend a hand to me.

If you can be there, be there. I will be there too. Pick a spot, pick a date, we'll shake hands.

What I want to feel in my hand, is another MM owner's hand shake. I'm not going to get this at Ennis, that's all about a car.

I'm about the people who own a car. There is a difference.

I get your point. That's exactly what I am still thinking. Unless we all camp at the same hotel, which I guess has been arranged, it will be hard to meet people we want to meet. It could get mighty lonely down there otherwise....

SOoooo,

where are we at with this? Have I missed something, are we waiting to start working on details, until we get closer to the date?

What needs to be done?
Can I help?

We have a weekend - 17-19 Oct !
We have 12 people, who voted for that date.

My participation has, unfortunately, become iffy?! Not sure if I have enough vacation days left. With other events/vacations already scheduled, without my knowledge (ask the wife).

MM03MOK
06-02-2003, 09:10 AM
It's not too soon to get into the details. Rooms are the first item. BigDog is checking with some of his peeps on that. If people arrive Th. night or early Friday, we can do a Harley Davidson factory tour, which is not available on the weekend.

We may need an idea of the block of days people will need to help get the best rates. Some will come on Thursday and may want to stay until Monday. Let's see what BigDog finds out. Once we have a base staked out, the planning can continue.

All, feel free to check out all the activities in the area. We can do large group, smaller groups or individual things as we all see fit. Plenty of meals to be had together too!!!!

I need a final head-count for our group tour by Monday Sept. 15. If we don't have 10 people, we'll have to take our chances in getting in.

EMAIL (Marauder03@comcast.net) me if you can DEFINITELY make it. I'll update this thread on the count.

Just saw this thread! Oct. 17 - 19 sounds great to me. I need to check with my wife before I commit since she may be having/recovering from knee surgery. We have my daughter's wedding Sept 19-22 and Corvettes at Ocean City MD is Oct 3 - 5. I may have to tell her to defer her surgery!!

Add me (I'll be a single) to the list. Just made my reservations for the weekend & Sunday too. The Harley Tour sounds good to me. I need to find out how long the trip will take form CT before committing to the tour. I'll be starting my trip very early in the morning. Brewery sounds good too!

Must start the day with a hearty meal!! I'll leave the suggestions up to those knowing the area. It doesn't need to be right in Hershey if it's more convenient for those driving in on Friday.

I'll be taking the TAPPAN ZEE Bridge. It's almost a 6 hour ride to Hershey, so I'll be leaving pretty early to get there by 9:30.

10: Merge onto NEW YORK STATE TRWY N/ I-87 N toward ALBANY/ TAPPAN ZEE BR (Portions toll). 18.69 miles

11: Merge onto I-287 S via exit number 15. 46.89 miles

12: Merge onto I-78 W via exit number 21B toward EASTON PA. 107.35 miles

Maybe we could put a caravan together.

Hollly cow!
I've been somewhat following this discussion but It didnt hit me till now. My mom lives 20 min from hershey, and My girlfriend goes to school about an hour from there, and to make things better my job ends columbus day weekend. that means Im free that weekend, I have a place to stay for free, and I'll get to see my girl. I obviously wouldnt need to book a hotel room ( more $$ twards my payments). Ill use this meet as an excuss to see my G/F (cause she hates when i go out of my way to see her), or vice versa, ill use my G/F as an excuss to go to hershey:D .
THATS IT I'M COMMING!

There's a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 18 for the tour. Children under 12 not allowed on tour but may visit the visitors center

I need a final head-count for our group tour by Monday Sept. 15. If we don't have 10 people, we'll have to take our chances in getting in.

EMAIL (Marauder03@comcast.net) me if you can DEFINITELY make it. I'll update this thread on the count.

We can do trains in the afternoon. Again, folks can do whatever they want. All of these choices are just group suggestions. If there's enough interest in Harley, I can look into a second group tour for those later arrivals and we can still meet up in Strasburg for choo-choo's. HEADCOUNT - HARLEY TOUR

If you book days other than Friday & Saturday the rate is $107. per night. Friday & Saturday are a sell out that weekend so they can not go any lower that that.

Mary,
Diana and I are in on the Harley tour on October 17th. Did that years ago...GREAT tour.
For those of you on the fence, make a reservation at the Hampton Inn, Hershey. Phone 717-533-8400. You can cancel later, but you may not get a room later. RESEVERVE NOW.
Don't like a Harley tour? There is a Mack truck assembly plant, Yuengling Beer....the OLDEST brewery in the USA, the AACA Museum, lots of antique shops, the Amish are next door and of course CHOCOLATE. The hardware stores carry things you thought were dropped 40 years ago. The Amish don't use modern technology. No power machinery, electricity etc.
Where else can you drive through towns with names like, Intercourse, Blueball, Bird-In-Hand and others that I won't name, because you would think I was kidding.Logan or LML would do the magic "ZIT", you're gone action to the thread if I listed them.
Did I mention GREAT FOOD everywhere.
Bigdog was called pupdog before he started eating some of the great food in the area.

Don't have any to bring. All the grandkids work, and the two girls wouldn't be interested anyway. They aren't into cars or amusement parks. The grandson is working to pay his upcoming college bills and don't want to go. That's okay, cause I don't mind coming alone, as the wife isn't to keen on the idea either.,

I need a final head count for the Harley tour. We can take 7 more people but I need to notify them of the count so they can plan accordingly. First 7 people to let me know can join us.
