Did you get the extended warranty? Or was this a non-warranty claim that they covered?

The dealer should be able to replace the motor within 15 labor hours. If it took 2 weeks they lost money. Glad to see you are back on the road and running again. Get a updated OASIS and ask about parts and labor warranty on new create motor. Note: No new Marauder create motors are available, only rebuilt units. Wheels up my friend.

"Modular" parts and repairs...Ford's program.

As I have stated before, a new engine (or reman) is the answer today. In my neighborhood, Techs are allowed to disassemble as far as they need to diagnose. With the right answers to cerain questions (as he has in your case), a whole engine replacement is Ford's answer. The take out parts go back for reman, and I'm comfortable with that. There are a few "brand new" builds available, but it's spotty, and stocked in areas a Ford Parts department can't purchase.

I find the quality of Ford's reman program good, it's usually just the block carried over, the crank has it's own reman framework. Rods and pistons, and whole broken head assemblies are recycled back to bulk stock metals for new production.

Likewise, heads are head assemblies, new cams, valves, seats, springs, girdles, ect., just bolt them together and get the customer on the road. You two weeks may have been from shipping, can't buy much "bare" or single anymore, and there's too much machining involved to make it a worthwhile repair option. Outside of the world of aftermarket builders, the talent for engine rebuilding is slipping away as a skill.

There's a reman facility in the same complex with my friend Mike Lopez. I've visited there and looked at the process, it's really clean and efficient, they do a good job. If it wasn't for the source of their materials, they could be building brand new engines and head assemblies. If you could see what they have done rebuilding my heads, you would have no worries about reman powertrain components. In-house engine dynos, flow benches, the whole nine yards, but don't ask for anything not built to stock OEM specs, they won't do it.

Gald you're back on the pavement, happy motoring my friend.

Unless I missed the answer, I am still wondering how you got a "no cost" warranty at 52000 if you had a factory warranty to only 36000???? Just a unprecedented favor???

AER is the Southwest factory reman facility--it is in North Dallas and it is just as Sarge said--top of the line , latest technology and highly trained techs--wouldn't worry about a reman--ran a reman in my '92 GM for over 50, 000 and it was going strong when I sold it. --enjoy your new power, Maury
