License plate Light

I wanted to change the LP light so it would look a little brighter....well when I took it out the bulb was black and the housing that it was plugged into was melted, the bulb still worked.....I guess the light was burning to hot....so I decided to buy an l.e.d. light for it at Auto Zone....well they only had two colors amber and red so I purchased the amber one untill I can find a clear or hyper white type of color. It is a little brighter but not the color I wanted but it doesn't burn nearly as hot.....Just wanted to let yall know to check you LP lights.....

Coming back from MVIII, I was pulled over by LEO--my license light was out--no ticket--found housing melted and bulb burned up--replaced with O'reilly bulb--OK since, Maury

Wow - melted? I better check mine as I have a laser jammer already in the way of part of that light and it's darker than normal anyway.

What part # did you replace this bulb with? As long as I'm looking at headlamps might as well do this. Then the fogs, turn lamps, etc, and while I'm at THAT might as well add a Trilogy with a forged . . ..

You guys make me spend too damn much money.
