They don't make a HID kit that is legal for the street if that matters to you.
Check out the new Silverstar Ultra by Sylvania. Very nice.

Mine have been installed for about a few months now, no problems at all from the cops. I've even had my local PD pull into parking lots where I am just "soliciting" and not do a thing and come up and ask me about the car.

Yea, that's what I meant lol, I can't even remember what soliciting means right now. But yea, I meant loitering, thanks for the correction lol.

LOL,
Ya I'M not worried about Legality just want HID's and super bright...
That link to your setup looks awesome which model numbers for the bulbs and ballasts did you get...?
I've been looking at the website you linked to for the manufacturer..
Any help on this matter is appreciated... I like how you can retain the stock look and stock bulb location... I not so found of putting in projector headlights... maybe id like angel eyes though... I never saw them in person...
Ya, I currently have the Sylvannia Silverstars and I like them over stock... they are not the ultras but if Im gonna spend more money on headlights Im gonna go all the way...

I haven't been on the site in a while to figure out which system I go, but I know a member on CVN just got some for his '96 GM. Here's the link to his he bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=018&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=280035806336&rd=1&rd=1
That's even less than what I paid for. Hope this helps you! And also, if you like the color of mine, they are 8000K. Just be sure to specify that you want 9007 bulbs if you want the high beams. When I went to order my "new" bulbs, I still got friggin 9006's. At this point though, I don't care enough to use my high's, they're bright enough as it is.

Should I specify 9007 "double bulb"?
I think they had a listing for that on the company's site you ordered from...

There are a few different bulbs type:
1) Single beam system (No highbeam function - it's so bright, you might not need it)
2) Dual beam system (Xenon for low beam and halogen for high)
3) Bi-Xenon system (Xenon for highs and lows. For highbeam, the bulb is mechanicaly tilted by an actuator)
4) True Bi-Xenon (Xenon for highs and lows. This system will come with 4 ballasts) - most expensive.
For brighter whiter lights, I would go with the 6000K color. The higher the color temperature the more blue the light will be and also the lower the lumens output of the light will be. Just to put things in persective, the average lumens for halogen lights is about 1200 and for xenon is about 3000 for 6000K bulbs and slightly lower for higher color temperature bulbs. You can definitely tell that the lights are much brighter than halogens and they don't run any hotter than halogens. They draw less power than halogens 35w vs 65w so less heat is generated. It's kind of like fluorescent light theory (cool brighter lights with less power draw)
None of these retro-fit systems are DOT approved. I'm not concerned with that. I just want to be able to see better on back roads. When I go to the inspection station every 2 years, I'll just temporary put my stock halogen bulbs back on and bypass the ballasts. They'll never know the difference. :)

I can get a sticker with what ever mods I have done to my car, so I'm not concerned either. ;)

In NC they just turn on the lights to see if they work.

Ya in PA. if the headlights and turn signals, brake lights etc. work they are happy to pass it...
True Bi-Xenon (Xenon for highs and lows. This system will come with 4 ballasts) - most expensive.
hmmm.. this sounds like it is best way to go... has anyone done this yet...?
Are there any kits available...?
How about this site...?
http://www.sanhuahid.com/WEB/en_search8.asp?keyword=HID%20B ulb
which kit from on this site would be the correct kit....?
Does anyone know of any other sites...? or kits...?
Any all options and help is greatly appreciated...

I have read this at most HID aftermarket company's...
"Will I lose the ability to use the High beams? "
Almost all-original equipment H.I.D. lighting systems that come on new cars use separate bulbs for High and Low beams. A traditional halogen bulb is used for the High beam while a XENON H.I.D. system is utilized for the Low beam. Our kits are intended to replace the Low-beam components of the lighting system while still keeping the High beam halogen bulb fully operational.
But some vehicles use a single halogen bulb for both the High and Low beam (like H4, 9004 and 9007). We offer a kit for these vehicles as well, but you will lose the High beam. We are also offering the Dual Beam / Hi-Lo H4 kit where both High and Low beam are preserved, this is a very cool option. If your car uses a 9004 or 9007 you will be giving up your high beam so make sure you want to do that before buying the kit! We are working on a dual beam for those bulbs too so check back soon.
The reason HID is not a good choice for high beams is because they take over a minute to heat up or come on full power so you would loose the ability to “flash to pass” or just flick on your high beams for a dark corner. The only new cars that come with HID high beams use a system like our HI-LO kit that only has one bulb and in some way alters the angle of the light to shine it higher. So if your car uses 9005 for low beams and 9006 for high beams just buy the low beam in HID and buy a set of high end bulbs for your high beams like our Polargs or Raybrigs. That will match nicely….

Here is a kit on ebay with 2 True Bi-Xenon bulbs and 4 ballasts. Our car uses the 9007 bulbs.

I have no problems when I do the flash to pass with it. But you should not flash it too rapidly. One flash per second is about the max rate you want to do.:)

Loco, that's the site that I purchased my headlight HID's from. Any of their kit's will work, as long as they will fit into the 9007 plugs. I just bought that eBay kit for my fog's! I'm pysched to get them in. I got the 8000k's, expect a thread from me within a week or so. :D

Also, that link I posted to the eBay HID kit, is a lot cheaper than that one. I paid $143.99 shipped for my HID fog's that I bought last night.

Nice thank you very much I'll look into it...
..and good to know the flash to pass with true bi-xenons is still a possiblity...
