You must be talkin about your window tint. I'll give you less than 30 days.

Less than 2 weeks?

Those windows look darker than the paint.

What % are they?

Mike.

Leaves on paint I would pull you over as soon as I spotted you driving:)

Now what % of tint have you appiled? What is Mi. law on this?

Looks really nice. However I give it maybe 2-300 miles?

Good luck.

Cops dont care here on the West Coast. disagree if you must , after 3 1/2's of maraudering with my 15% all around , in both Las Vegas and Southern Cali I have been stopped 4 times , never issued a ticket , only verbal warnings, and none of them commented on the tint. Cops cant regulate on what they perceive as a bad ass cop car, they want one too!

No state vehicle inspection?

If you are going to get the District of Columbia tint job, you need to finnish the entire windsheild. But yeah, I don't even think out of town tags would save you in this case.

Washington doesnt have one...I see really dark tint on cars all the time, It's not a big deal around here...One of the beaters I've had over the years had limo tint all the way around..never had an issue with it, and I drove that car around for two years

AstroVic

That looks like 5% to me.

Around here it would depend on the jurisdiction. Some care, some don't. It just depends.

Food for thought...municipalities cannot afford the wizzbang techno geek machines to check tint levels...and the training of their LEO's on how to operate, calibrate and properly justify. The only reason I have one that I am responsible completely for, is that I am Federal...I do help out at least 4 times a month when called, to zap some tint for the area LEO...but it seems it is always an afterthought ...

PS: Tint grade cool with me ... leaves on car...after yer shot, we shall drag your corpse through a ChEbBy junkyard.....:D

Just the opposite is true around here. Generally speaking, the county law enforcement agencies are poor while the city PDs are well-to-do.

I've been both a county deputy and a city police officer, and the only departments that I've known to have a tint-meter were city police departments. In fact, around here, most county law enforcement patrol cars don't even have radar units in them.

Also, I've never seen or heard of a federal officer (with any federal agency) with a tint-meter. In fact, I never see federal officers for ANY reason. :)

Just my experiences, nothing more or less.

The tint is limo (whatever % that is) in the back, and 17% on the front windows. As for the leaves, I washed the car yesterday, I stop the trees from dropping them though.

Limo tint term is usually used along with 20%. I've been sitting on the fence with getting mine done cause I'd like to have the 20% smoke tint for privacy reason cause I usualy carry a few units of my equipment around and just a handset and control box is $2,100 but I have a hard enough time at night time trying to park in tight spots and seeing behind me so I think 30 or 35% is what I'll be getting soon.

Maybe the term varies in each region but down here when people speak of limo, they seem to be referring to 5%.

I have 15% tint on my Marauder since 2002 and haven't had any problems.
I feel it's dark enough and also light enough to see at night.
That being said,I once had a car with no front license plate holder on it which I drove everyday. I took it off because it didn't look cool. The first time I let my boy drive it he comes home with a ticket asking why him and not me? Go figure?

Kids in cars (young people to you and I) attract a lot of LEO attention because they drive like WE did when we were kids.... and the result is not a lot of slack on stuff they won't bother a more MATURE (older) operator about. Dennis

But they can't tell the age of the driver through the dark tint.

I am certain that the age/maturity factor has worked in my favor on more than a couple of occasions. :D

I understand the appeal of the darker tint especially on the Marauder to keep with the sinister looks/styling. However, I personally don't like dark tint on any vehicle ... especially one that is in front of me. Being able to "see through" the vehicle ahead allows a driver to better anticipate situations ahead. Unfortunately, the high rears on some cars and SUVs coupled with the very dark tint has almost negated the ability to "see ahead" by 3-4 cars. You can't wait for the brake lights on the car in front to light before you hit the brakes. I attribute many of the rear end accidents to the darker tint in combination with following too closely. Add a cell phone and it's a wreck looking for a place to happen.

From a LEO standpoint, I would think that dark tint brings up the "pucker factor" 'cause they cannot see what is happening inside the vehicle on a late night or even mid-day stop. BTW --- Roadside shootings have increased in Virginia in the past several years.

That just my opinion on the window tint issue. :soapbox:

There is a point with tint that your automatic dimmer for the inside rear-view mirror WILL not work. Of course at that point it is academic. The tint is dark enough that the high beams of a car behind you will not cause blindness :)

In VT there is no tint allowed in front door windows and the percentage for the others is specified.. There is a nice chart for all the states on Google...probably under "window tint rules". We have state inspection annually including trailers...RAM

ticket for the no front license plate usually goes to the RO and not the operator unless they are one and the same..."failure to display" Happened to me in a borrowed Jeep one time... Ah John, while I was driving, you got a ticket for no front plate.... RAM

MA inspections stations have little tint samples to hold up and compare to yours for transparency...

The State police in Michigan have light meters for checking tint. Wyoming, Michigan has strict enforcement of tint laws. They will pull over.

I'd like to think the police in my town have more important things to do than follow me around and ticket me for tint.

In my hometown, dark tinted windows that violate State law are like an "arrest me red" (painted) sports car. Whether you agree with the policy or not, there are enough safety issues involved to warrent strict enforcement.

You'd think so...I had a Cobb County Georgia patrol car pull a 180, and follow me into a parking lot, use a light meter on my car and issue me a warning ticket for the tint, and a citation for tinted license plate cover...oh well. I had to go to court for the plate, and the judge just said "did you take it off?", of course I had, and he said "case dismissed". ;) But what a waste of time.:(
BTW, 20% all except front.

Ya know, in most parts of the country, you may be right. Here in south FL, the sun is just brutal for a large part of the year. With the dark charcoal interior, fairly dark tint is almost a necessity, IMHO.:)

License plate frames are illegal in Michigan. I don't think the law is enforced. Some frames cover the state name!

The #1x car had tint from Kenny Brown, clear windshield, medium on the front seat windows, heavy on the rear seat and back windows. Never got stopped for tint, only question ever raised was by CPD Inspectors. Illinois does not use tint meters, "obstruction" is in the opinion of the officer. BTW, planning the same tint for my #3 MM in the spring.

Illinois requires a front plate, and both unobstructed by frames, shields, or, tint. I agree with this, and when I was in patrol, I enforced the two plate and free of obstruction codes.

Sometimes folks would ask me why I enforce such mundane violations, and I would say to them "when someone steals your car, don't you want me to find it? I can't do that if you don't attach the plates, or, you cover them up".

Yeah they may be illegal but I do not know of another state in the lower 48 where more people leave the selling dealers plate frame installed on thier viehicles after purchase longer...Most people remove them directly after purchasing a new car....It seems with all due respect that for whatever reason a very high percentage of people in Michigan take pride in these Dealer frames...WHY..???

I worked with a stereotypical Michigan slob hunter/idiot that I never liked to be around, after I got to know him. I would go into work and see a Pontiac with dark grey plastic covers over the headlights. I thought, what kind of idiot would cover their headlights with a dark tint? Of course, it was said idiot co-worker
