Would there be any problem with me installing a CAI during winter??? Or should I wait until it warms up again??? Just don't know if the cold weather would have anything to do with it.......

You're A/F might be off after the install. Might need to get a tune/dyno tune to take advantage of the "full" mod potential.

The install should be ok. How it will run in very cold weather is another story. I've had driveability issues with free flow intakes during the extreem weather we get here. I switch back to the OEM airbox for winter. The engine seems to run better and all the salt, sand, misc garbage stays out of my engine.

I have the K&N CAI and have not had any driveability issues. My car is a daily driver in all weather. The weather in MN is probably a bit colder than in the Carolinas. Go for it.:banana2:

Other than your tools and fingers will be cold, go for it. No problems since mine was installed over 2 years ago. I do recommend getting your MM dyno tuned. PM me if you have any other questions.

Only thing I would check often when it starts to get salty/snowing, just make sure the filter is still clean. I had a problem with my old Vic with that, it would collect dust like no other.

Look into a filter sock / prefilter.

Is there a difference between a dyno tune and the Xcal-2 ?

The Merc is good, I have not had any issues with my intake since it's been on the car (August) it still looks brand new. My old CV though, phew man how filthy that would get.

A dyno tune is specific to your MM.
An Xcal-2tune is a "generic" MM tune that works well for most MM's based on the tuner knowledge and experience.

Get both. Buy an xcal2 from whoever does your dynotune and get a copy of the program and your database so you can tweak it for different applications using your new Pro Racer software package. That way when you install your Trilogy . . .

Colder the better--cold air is denser than warm--

Heh. You'll be kinda bummed when the weather goes from cold and dry air to hot and humid air in the summer, that's all. These MMs really love the cooler drier air. You'll feel more horses during the winter months.
