My '03 Marauder key has the door lock fob as a separate piece. My '06 Fusion key has the door lock piece as the handle of the key. Can I use this type of key for the Marauder? Does the Fusion type key use the same comms with the car as the Marauder key?

The RKE functions most likely will not be compatible.
Compare the keyshafts and make sure they are the same lenthg and width (uncut)

I hope that that this type of design of fob/key is not for the future of ford. It is not too sturdy. If you turn it too hard, it falls apart.
Just my .02 and then some.....

The Fusion key have different chip and its too wide to fit in the ignition of the MM. I know I tried, since I work for a supplier of those things. We are working on prototypes FBI (fixed blade intigrated) keys to fit the other styles. You should see the fob for Astom Martin, so cool.:D

Yeah you can get a key and fob all on one for the MM. Its like 120 bucks though. Not sure if its worth it. But you can get a mercury one like that, that is compatible with the MM.

are we talking the all in one kind of key, where the keyless entry buttons are part of the key?
I'd love one of those. Which Merc car does it origionally fit, I'd be game to try one out.

Where have you seen them for the MM. I like them but have not seen them. They are called FBI keys.

I work at a Lincoln Mercury dealer. And looked into them if they would work for the MM's. They will, but a little expensive. My cost on them 75.00 bucks.

One of my Marauder keys and the fob which was on the key chain is missing and hasn't turned up... It been almosst a year if not more than.. It's lost for good...
I would like to order on of these all in one key/fob for my Marauder... i'll end up spending almost that just to replace the key normally...
How would I change the programming of the key and FOB to my marauder though...?

The one you are talking about must be for the the new Mercury's. The new FBI key will not fit the ignition of the Marauder the plastic housing is too thick. The key won't fit all the way in to try to start the car. So the chip inside won't matter.

MdnightMarauder,
Which L/M do you work for?
I work for Ogden Lincoln Mercury in North Aurora. Its a integrated key and transponder. I dont know what you call a FBI key. But its a key and key fob all in one. And it will work. If you wanted one PM me and I will sell it to you for my cost. Just pay shipping. And you would have to get it programed. If you even give me your key code I'll cut it for ya. Or your vin # will work too.

if we are sure it will work..... I'd buy one...
How do you program it... the old turn the key over and back and forth and step on brake or something like that...
I know there is some trick to it...

You put your right foot in,
You put your right foot out,
You put your right foot in,
Then you turn it all about.

The Fusion key will not fit in our ignition lock and the remote part will not program in our system. I thought of this idea when the fusion first came out and tried it. No go.

Hey guys I'm sorry. I just looked into it more and those keys that I was telling you about will not work. I just called Rotunda and they told me that they will not work for the MM's. I must have got some bad information before. I am very sorry I feel like a A**.

The metal blade is the same but the plastic is too thick that's why it don't fit. If I hear anything on the prototypes, if the go to market I will let people know.:D

The FOB and PATS transmitter are both incompatible with the MM system.

I'm not sure I understand the reasoning in integrating the fob functions with the key.
While most of us do it, I'm not sure of keeping the fob on the same ring as the key to the vehicle either.
If you lose your keys when out somewhere, and the fob is with them, it's pretty easy for someone to figure which vehicle the key goes to and have themselves a car. Of course I'm probably over thinking it, and that never happens with keys.
