I haven't seen it yet my self, but I hear there is an article on the 2003 Marauder in Collectible Automobile Magazine June 2003

Haven't seen it either, but the 03 Marauder is on it's way to be the lowest produced Marauder yet.

plan on selling? I too would like to see the value appriciate, just so I can brag, but I hate to sell car. It becomes like my Girlfriend (without all the nagging:D). Even if the car became worth $1,000, 000 I dont think Id have the heart to sell (i know im pathetic)

Delorean...I am with you....

When I bought my F150 I knew someday I would sell it.....but the day I bought this....I said I will run it until the wheels come off....maybe even have it painted once or twice....Mods etc.....Personally for bragging rights it would be cool just to say hey I own a Marauder....but the value etc...I could really care less...the dang thing is just a great car.....

Is this Collectible car mag something you can pick up at a bookstore or what...I would like to see it...

I read the article in Collectible Auto magazine. Standard write up with a mention of collectibilty status in 20 years....maybe

Collectible Automobile magazine is available at most bookstands where other car mags are sold. I've seen the article. I remember when my Impala was new and there was talk about it's demise (in fact it was known by then which was 1995), Collectible Automobile did an article similar to the Marauder one. The only mentioned the 1994-1995 cars though. Perhaps it wasn't known the details of the '96 at that point.

I know the Marauder will be collectible anyway. It's pretty obvious. It's got Roadrunner Superbird syndrome; they were slow sellers new but people kill for them now.

Somehow, I just don't think that the MM will ever reach Superbird status. I think that the car will have collectability in the future, but how much remains to be seen. Is this the last (and only) year of production? Part of me would like to own one of a very few produced. Another part of me would like to see at few years of production, just to get name brand recognition. Then again, part of me wants to park it in a humidity controlled garage for 20 years, and part of me wants to WOT it every night! We are supposed to learn from the past, but I never bought shares of Microsoft or Starbucks 10 years ago, so why should I park my MM in cold storage now?

Does anyone know how many Impala SS cars were built? They seem to have become collectible and go for near new price in super shape. The MM is the same class of car and I am thinking will follow suite. It would be nice to see our cars in the 18,000-20,000 dollar range in 15 years. Of course miles will be a factor as it is with the Impala.

Man this car is very collectible even now. You can find these museum pieces at your local L/M dealer ship. They are collecting dust and dirt. I truly hope their is a happy ending to this story for the owners.

I know what you're thinking. Did he have a six cylinder or a supercharged eight cylinder? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being as this is a Mercury Marauder, the most powerful 4 door Sedan in the world, and would blow your bumpers clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?

Simple after spending the time to wax her and va*** an clean the leather and after a few  . (PLEASE DONT DRINK AND DRIVE) Its a great to just sit and look at!!!!! I think she will go for a decent price later on. Not what I paid. Just my 2cents!!!

Would you believe . . . I have NEVER seen a Marauder on the road. Been looking for almost a year. So, my solution was to buy one and drive slowly past glass buildings on sunny days so I could look at my reflection and see a Marauder in motion! Do I need to get a life?

ROFL, troop!

No, you don't need to get a life...I found martyo SLEEPING in his car at a motel in Worcester on the 17th...mumbled something about badgers trying to steal his "dice" valve-stem caps...

I've the same problem as you. I've never seen one on the road, other than my own reflection. I know from dealers that there are at least 4 in my area. When I first saw the MM, there were 3 at my local dealer in September. I thought February the best time to buy, as interest rates were low, and there were still 3 sitting there. Got a good deal too, $5000 off the sticker with all the extras (undercoating, low interest rate etc).

You know you have a great (kewl) set of wheels when you park in a crowded movie theater parking lot and everyone leaves a space open on each side of you!!!
And I wasn't even sitting in the car!!!

Now THAT makes it all worth while...collectable...who cares...I have ONE and thats ALL that matters.

Does anyone know how many Impala SS cars were built?

Year Blk DCM DGM Total by Year
1994 6303 0 0 6303
1995 9858 7134 4442 21434
1996 19085 12180 10676 41941
Total 35246 19314 15118 69768

The sub 1k examples go for about what they went for new, but the drivers have taken a major hit in the past year. Main reason is lack of easy financing, but mine is still depreciating much less than a comparable new car would. I financed everything including TT&L 18 months ago and I was "right side up" within 6 months, and since then depreciation has been much more related to the mileage than the baseline.

Most desirable is the '96 even though they made the most in that year. Reason is the analog gauges and console shifter. The rare car would have to be the Caprice wagon. They only made around 300 of those. Odd, but it's not a collectable.

I had sincerely hoped that Mercury would release a convertable Marauder. That's the only thing that could have got me to part with my SS.

The only time I saw a MM on the road was my boss needed it to go to the bank! Yes I let SOMEONE else drive her! She looked and sounded good going down the road.

My dealership got the first one in last sept. Then I ordered mine. They got one more in November and it still hasnt sold!!! Why?? Who knows, I get people asking about mine and they are impressed but not enought to buy! Price? Maybe still asking $34,500? I'll check!

If the guy from Chattanogga that bought that one is in this group, registered or not would like to talk!! PM me or post reply here!!!!!!

A bit off topic in away! But passed a few CV with sum custom work dun to them (outside) And I can see that look from them (DAMM SWEET RIDE YOU GOT). And had the same look for them!!! One was a 2000 or 2001 Grand Marquis, Good mods, I didnt have time to track him down but If I do see him again I will try and get sum pics and find out what he had dun. Tennessee tags but could read what county he was from! Best shut up!!!! Later Patrick.

Just to further demonstrate how rare this car is....around here....I was at Discount Auto Parts yesterday and asked about the new K&N Filter for the Marauder.

He says "Oh that new Acura.....that is nice...."

Mine's already a collector, just last night on the way back from the golf course it musta collected 2 million bugs!! ( hee-hee).. But seriously, any fine, well maintained, clean vehicle will appreciate in value at some point in time. Some just take awhile, e.g. in the late sixties you could get people to pay you to tow away a Studebaker, now, bruing a heavy wallet if you want one.

I agree Paul, but I'm 53 years old. I don't expect I'll be around when this car qualifies for antique plates by Illinois law. Best for me to maximize enjoying her now, and I am.

So, I stop by my guy Zeus for a hand wash this afternoon, and what pulls in behind me? Avanti. Go figure...

My 63 is rare, (and so will be the 03), but still waiting for it to be a collectable their has to be a market for it, and like was said before it has to have very low miles, like under 500 to be a top dollar item.
Forget it and just have the fun this car was intended for.

Received a voice mail from a dealer out of state who I was in contact with before I bought my MM (I should let her know that I got one locally). Anyway, after she spoke about rebates and such, she said, "we only have about a handful left and they don't plan on building them for next year."

She never seemed like the pushy type, so I don't think she was saying that to scare me.

Any thoughts?

My salesman (big-time car nut) called me last night, too. Originally when I ordered the car, I was going to hold off til the '04 to see if the moonroof would become available. He told me that the MM may not be around that long. So last night he called and did a little "I told you so" action. He said that the future is grim and it'll probably be dead by the end of the summer.

It's a good line to start selling what they have in inventory. "they're going to be rare" angle.

We are the largest Marauder dealer in the country. I can tell you that we have ordering guides for the 2004 Marauder and will be ordering our initial 2004 order within the next 2-3 weeks. The only real change for 2004 is the addition of Matador Red and the removal of Pearl Blue.

By the way, we have about 40 Marauders available.
